I agree with all your posts. So many posts say exactly what I think about this event. Very confusing. Very annoying that there are no clear information.
I got the same email. And I think Holiday Task Event sounds like the event we had for halloween, thanksgiving, oktoberfest... So I think it is an extra event and doesn't go within the current event. Can't imagine how this should work.
I always watch the videos from R3DKNIGHT - Ricky Burnett. On his social media account he posted an informations: 'Heads up. Holyday Event Catalogoue lenght. Will be longer to allow players to buy gifts from the catalogue. '
In a live stream he also explained the difference on the event board. You can find the live stream on Ricky Burnetts channel. Tab Live. Title of the Video: Hay Day Live - Town and Farm Winter Design. (the first one! not Part 2 with this title!)
The part I mean is at 3:25.
So it looks like it isn't a bug or anything else.
But also interesting: Ricky reaction to a post which was in the live stream. (at 6:00) It sounds like SC has something planned.
But I this behavior (from SC) is very frustrating. If I play an event I want to know how it works and what I can expect. I don't want to speculate.

Thank you for the link, squirrel ! I listened to that part of the video, and I got the impression that something new is coming, but he can't reveal what it is. That fits with a response I got from Support when I wrote to ask them to clarify the time difference between the boat event and the gift wrapping machine: "December is a month full of surprises for all our players and that no one knows what will come with this big update. However, it is likely that new events will arrive that include the same products since the Gift Wrapping machine will there with us for another 19 days plus." Putting that together with the email Cowslips got about a "Holiday Task Event," it does sound as if (after the boat event ends) there may be an event similar to the Thanksgiving task event. Maybe the tasks will be to make gifts from the wrapping machine, and the rewards will be holly that can be used in the "giftes" catalog. That's the only possibility I can think of that makes sense under the circumstances, but of course it may be something totally different that I haven't thought of. Either way, I wish they would give us more information instead of leaving us to guess. Even if they just said that after the boat event ends, there will be a surprise event giving us the chance to continue using the wrapping machine to earn more holly, that would be good to know, and the nature of the event could still be a surprise.

This is all we need! They are welcome to surprise us, just let us know that it will be worthwhile to continue wrapping gifts and collecting holly. The frustrating thing is that this format of event has been used several times now and there is still major confusion about how it works.

There are multiple things with December: - Supercell won't be working when the late December event are actually out, so they can't really prepare the best communication, in case of last minute changes due to bugs or issues detected too late. - if Supercell start holding off some information since several years, it is because they want to give the CC some spotlight so they can actually attract viewers for their own benefits. Some of you might remember "forum exclusive info" in the past. Too bad for those who can't stand watching lengthy and unnecessary video like me, or anyone who doesn't speak english. it's not like Hay Day is a multilanguage game... - SC team maybe short on members but still want to give players some surprises. Surprise! However, I don't like surprise when it means it causes chaos in my planning! I don't think I have much energy to follow this unwanted hype, it triggers more negative emotion than I need these time of the year. No boat needs rushing, I'll just play at my pace and let it be. If they do the bad job in communication, they gotta see the reaction when Players cannot plan nor even have the satisfaction of "playing smart" when they could have invest some money/diamonds to achieve all the goals.

Thanks, Frog dear, for articulating so clearly what the issues are. We play to have fun and relax, and for the most part that works in a lovely way. When it doesn't work, and I, as a player, start to have negative emotions it's a problem, as what I enjoy is the capacity to, as you say, play smart. We aren't able to play smart right now. Thanks for all the work you do, and for putting your finger right on the current issue.

I also decided for me not to bother any longer with the annoying issues without any chance of clarifying in time. It's indeed wasted energy, I don't need this either. 😕
I admit it's easier said than done bc it's actually so unnecessary. But it is how it is. If there are things we can't change - this is obviously the case - we have to change our attitude. Everything else is bad for us and it leads to nothing, exceptional bad mood. I try to come to terms with the current conditions and to get what is possible.
I have no power any more to deal with things I can't affect in any way. Tbh, my power and my time are too precious to be wasted at this subject. Enough is enough!

I could start a long rant about SC/HD, but most has been said in this forum in a lot of threads over the past months. I wonder why a quite lot of you long-time-players, deco-lovers, fangirls/boys etc still give them your money. To me it's obvious the one and only goal is to get more revenue no matter what, as long as possible. Imo this game is dead.

I have not seen a reason... so I am letting my mind go with the flow. maybe it is to give everyone a day to stockpile the gifts? Maybe it is some sort of typo that Christmas Magic will miraculously fix. Or, Maybe there is some other special thing that can only be bought with gifts and is only available for limited hours... More likely, it's none of these... ther goes my mind again! 😌

But they should let us know how long we have the chance to earn hollies. The first part of the catalogue will be closed soon. Without knowing how much time we have to collect the hollies it is hard to decide what to buy and how much hollies you should safe for the upcoming parts. But as donkefan said: I also decided for me not to bother any longer with the annoying issues without any chance of clarifying in time. First I thought this is really annoying and was disappointed about the event or better about the missing informations. The time difference. But now I have dealed with it. It is how it is. I still try to catch informations and wanted to know how it will go on. But I am more relaxed. I decided that I will spent my hollies as there won't anything else coming up. So that I am safe if there is nothing else. If there will be more, then it is ok. If not, then I will have collected the things I wish.

I do appreciate Supercell for their values (I play Clash too) and player base enough to feel enough satisfaction for what I'm doing. That doens't stop me to see a bigger picture and what they could have done better, hence all the lengthy feedback. I'm not a big spender, in fact I enjoy playing without spending. However, I invest more time and indirect money for Hay Day related topics.

Frog, it's a love/hate relationship for me too. Sometimes I feel really fed up with the way things work – and don't work – but most of the time I get much more pleasure than frustration from the game. At this point what I enjoy most about the game is decorating, so I'm willing to spend (what I consider) reasonable amounts of money or diamonds on decorations I love. I'm very selective about what I buy, and the things I do buy really add to my enjoyment of the game.

Sometimes I reduce the time I spend in the game but then I come back.

I join you with agreement. 🎄⭐️ I play meanwhile 7 years, and I have to say there is no other game which created such a strong bond with me. Despite all shortcomings over the time. Still enjoying to watch my donkeys (and other animals as well, but of course mostly my donkeys) and additional changing the "outfit" of my farm. Especially giving the donkeys another place so that I can see how they "adapt". In the past I had very often funny moments. That's are things I won't miss. Regarding money...I am very fastidious. Like LuvHayDay and 🌼GymGirl🌺 already stated. I buy what I want but very often I pass. I think - despite of reasonable criticism - it doesn't hurt to support the developers for their awesome game over the years. And at this point I come back to what Frog mentioned...it's a special relationship, grown over the years. The bond is strong, and therefore you don't quit easily. 🎄⭐️🌺❤️

That doens't stop me to see a bigger picture and what they could have done better, hence all the lengthy feedback. I'm not a big spender, in fact I enjoy playing without spending. However, I invest more time and indirect money for Hay Day related topics. Thank you Frog and and all the other responses. I didn't want to offend or annoy anyone. I'm playing HD nearly since the start, currently have 5 farms and yes, it's love/hate, but recently more of the latter. All the beautiful farms, designs, decos, so much time went into it. All the people we got to know and sometimes became close friends. And of course, all the forum (old and new) contributors, I learned so much from you and I thank you all very much. But what I see is, communication from SC is as bad as it has always been (I wonder how they define the job "community manager"), support is non-existent most of the time, (long-living) bugs are not being fixed (probably best example is the bunny timer bug which has been here from start, another one would be the personal train), long-deserved and requested updates are ignored (town!), instead we get unwanted crops, machines, sanctuary animals for ages. For me it looks like development is aimed (forced?) to produce more revenue. Spend more diamonds, if you're short, buy some with real money. If a bug bothers you, spend diamonds... Not to mention, if you want a deco,... Last machine update (Milkshake Bar) was a real killer for me, considering price and ingredients needed. Just ridiculous. Still haven't bought it and probably never will. I still have about 80 25h Tom-Boosters to get those milkshakes if ever needed. All recent events add to this, too, although it's easier for most of us long-time-players to fill those boats and produce those gifts to get all those lovely decos and long-demanded permits. Talk about addicts ;-) As someone stated, maybe SC has a new target market to make money with HD, newer and younger players. IDK, but I'm afraid this game is not balanced anymore. I'm also afraid as soon as some management people who never even played the game for a minute aren't satisfied with the numbers, they'll shut it down. This is why I think the game is dead anytime soon. Maybe I'm wrong, but at least my impression was that a lot of people in this forum tend to spend fewer or no money unlike they used to before. Again, excuse me if I did offend anyone. Just a long-time player worrying where this game is heading

Hello kida, Thank you for your feedback. You did not offend me . Been there, done that, got fed up, took break, coming back, review expectation, keep ranting... (or giving feedback, in some cases). Maybe it's age, I also accept game issues with a more generous attitude. To err is human and there are worse pb elsewhere. I actually think the game is much better now than in the beginning where it was quite easy to be exploited. I'm at a stage where I know how (or find out quickly) and can do almost everything in Hay Day, I just decided to only bother what pleases me most. I have to say that real life has much more interesting things to do as well ^^. Supercell games is the first games that I actually enjoy enough to join the community to learn tips and discuss strategies with like-minded people. However it's not always possible to have conversation between players with different playstyle. While some struggle with coins to buy new machine, I have no problem with clearing every RSS I could find, I simply don't mention it as I don't have a proper discussion thread to discuss how much the wealthy people enjoys new products right in front of other players who can't. How would they feel? The core of Hay Day remains some kind of resource management. Poor strategy or playstyle would easily lead a farm to a vicious cycle with constant need of coins or storage. That's usually where players got stuck and upset if they can't get out. When there are such things that bother players and if they want to ask for advice on how to improve, I'm sure other players are willing to share tips. But if all they need is just to vent then people will just listen or join them. Personally, I woudn't spend time on a post where I can't identify a question or a need for clarification. This forum, in english, is not the best representative of player base. Players who are actually pleased are busy playing, communicating on modern social platform looking for neighbors to trade, reminding them about derby task, sharing screenshots.... I can see that on some Discord servers, FB groups and Reddit. Not counting other similar platform in other languages. I'm sorry if the vibe from the forum alone let you think the game is heading south. I do believe the game is improving and trying to please all different playstyles, often contradictory. The introduction of new type of event (Task Event) this Fall has actually brings more reader/ poster to forum as there are new things to talk about, and not just the same old "when does Bunny come" that is already discussed trillions times on the internet. Hang in there! We're still here wherever the game is going.

Thanks so much for posting this, wasn’t clear at all, I was saving my hollies for the 2 deco booths coming in 6 days. Definitely don’t need my hollies turned into coins!!! A bit annoying though as I’ll have to re save up more hollies next week when I thought I’d had enough to get the booth decos on the day they came out, they cost a lot of hollies- 1800 in total which is why I’ve been collecting them ahead of time. So really I’m not happy about having to spend the hollies in only a couple of days or lose them to coins. Thought that would have happened like last year at the end of the event 😟

On the bright side... if when hollies do get turned into money... even if you are at the point of having an abundance... we KNOW that there will be way too expensive machines, Maggie houses, shops, trucks, and shopping in our future! At least it's kept in the cyber bank and not hidden in the barn!

Everything says Boats 14 days 20 hours more of what the board says is a boat based event Plus the gift catalogue itself only mentioning boats It will take the absolute mick if the hollies we've worked for are converted to coins only for us to have to re earn more Especially if that's using the same machine!

I have everything that Maggie has offered over the years, so I have little to spend those coins on. No matter; it's a much better position to be in than being desperate for currency. After 10 years of playing on a daily basis I still love Hay Day, despite the frustrations. Personally, I'd rather SC continue introducing new events and ways of puzzling us. At least the game doesn't feel stale at the moment.

R3dknight posted a video to clarify the holly and gift situation
Current boat task with gifts ends on Dec 21.
Presents go away after Dec 21. They will be removed from inventory. No refunds.
The holly stays. It will carry over.
Gift machine stays for another 15 days.
Catalog also stays for another 15 days.
There is a new event coming. Holly will be part of this event.
Remaining holly will be converted to coins in 15 days.
Clear as mud.

Just watched r3dknights video- great to get that cleared up!! And that I can save my hollies.
Looking at the wrapping machine I wonder if they are New Year Eve party invitations popping out?🤔 - perhaps the next items we will have to make are New Year related??- just a thought😊
