Poor decision made by SC to extend the event by 2 days. I am glad for all the players that now have the chance to finish the event and reach final deco threshold. But how are they gonna compensate the players that spend diamonds (and real money to get them) for additional tasks and/or to complete tasks faster so they had the possibility to get to the end? Don’t give me that it’s a players own choice. They changed to rules during the event, which I do appreciate with regard to the players, but to me it seems unfair to the players that support Hayday with real money. They should have gotten this correct from the get go. Respectfully agree to disagree with all but your last sentence. This is from someone who spent a ridiculous amt of diamonds across several farms, many by accident. Most frustrating at the time was when I woke up to see that one farm still had its task up and expired even though I swear I did it… I think it was from switching too fact on scid. So I paid 10 diamonds to extend that task and then cleared the remaining one without realizing I had to retake the stupid task. By the time I was done it was ~20 diamonds just for that. And countless more on other farms, usually at midnight when I was too damn tired to stay up later and finish tasks. And all that was just to try for the pigs. Not everyone is lucky enough to be retired, or have a job that allows them to pop on during the day, or can even play every day at all re. family situations etc. Really, this event was a major debacle and, worse, it was unhealthy bc of staying up late or getting up early to start some tasks…. A game shouldn’t force people to choose between healthy sleep/life and and an event. So you are completely right, it should have been designed better to begin with. But we will all forget about some diamonds in a few days. We would not have forgotten the majority of player base missing the target, many people being totally burned out, and a bad feeling all around for a long long time, perhaps years. Some of us oldies still remember the cotton shirt drop box debacle of 2013 hahaha. So even though I will be finished today, even spending some more diamonds to get the table bc I just can’t even take another day of this lol, I am glad that SC listened to the players and made us feel heard.

Well said shepherdgirl we all have our many different lives we try to manage from day. Totally enjoyed the read. Will anyone be posting a list of tasks after to at least try to prep for next one, today I had a catch lobster one for 360 a first for me. The rest are a blur lol but after some sleep some more will come to me. 😂 after such a confusing event here has been the fun and understanding and information.

Enjoyed reading all the trials and accomplishments. Liked all the posts! I am always falling behind with the skill of these special events. Had a lot of low number earnings, not sure how many I could trash. Only after playing day by day, I realized I would not make it to the final prize. Yesterday started trashing some tasks. I just thought if I did my daily quota, I would get there! Silly me! We will see how far I get, happy with a few of the prizes. Congrats to all the determined farmers that already made it all the way Sorry about all the diamond usage... Hard to live Hay Day 24-7 I learned this with other computer opportunities. Please sleep well, enjoy what you can fellow farmers ❤️ 🚜 🚜 🚜

I can only speak for myself, but I'm delighted that Supercell have extended the event. Whenever a "new" event is introduced things can go wrong; Hay Day is a huge and complex game, built over more than a decade. Add to that the range of players, from newbies to those who have been playing from day 1, and it must be very difficult to factor everything in. Kudos to Supercell for trying! It would be much easier to continue using tried and tested formats for events. I welcome the new ideas that have been flowing recently; long may they continue. Another game I play frequently offers the chance to extend an event if you haven't completed it. That is always done by spending real money though. In the Oktoberfest I used some diamonds to experiment with an expired task, so that I could inform forum members. Those who know me will recall that I relish an experiment! I also used a few diamonds to complete tasks, when it suited me, but that was my choice. I do buy diamonds occasionally, as well as the Farm Pass each month. I enjoy playing Hay Day, and am happy to make a financial contribution towards its continued development. I really don't feel the need to be compensated on this occasion. 😊 😉 This is not a new event, they have done this kind of event before, but we had more tasks etc. My point was that they changed the rules during the event. They have enough data from previous events to see what number of tasks is realistic given the time that we players were given. A basic set of rules prior to an event wouldn’t have been that hard to release. The info that was shared was incorrect. I do like new things being brought to the game, yes please. Analysis of big data isn’t that hard and you can adjust prior to the release of a new event. Same with global events etc. the fact that other games give the option to extend for money is irrelevant in my opinion, cause you know that from the get go. During the October event people spend money because they wanted the final reward. Would they have spend money if they knew they had two more days? Most likely not, and that’s the point I was trying to make. I am still pleased for all players that now will be able to complete the event. I agree that whenever a new function is introduced things can go wrong. But because of this every function should be tested before introducing. Every good software developer does this. So big mistakes, big issues, things you haven't thought about should be realised in the test. Little things can go wrong. Yes. You can never delete all little issues. Some things just appear by playing (using) it. But for me: As ducktown said, this was not a new event. And I looked like they haven't thought what it means if they attach a daily limit. Tasks that take over 24h were still there. And all the other issues we collected here looked like they haven't well thought. But not only this. If we say things can go wrong, the other side is how to manage this problems. I think the way SC did, wasn't the right way. There was no information during the event. To many of us it was confusing. Why haven't they excused once and explained the new rules? Now at the end SC was able to bring a popup in the game to inform us the event is now extended. For the extra tasks there was nothing. Mostly I realized it by reading from others they have more tasks. This is not beneficial if you have to organize your time. Little extra thoughts on this: I sometimes watch Ricky Burnett /R3DKNIGHT. He said they told them about the points early, they told them about the prizes early (why is there a map piece) He mentioned we don't get enough points. So I can't understand why SC didn't listen to the Content Creators. They mentioned all the things which were so frustrating to us. SC knew about these facts. And decided to ignore it. In my opinion this is not the way a new event should be introduced.

Congratulations! Well, my decision not to have sanctuary animals hit me hard this time 🤣. Not something that can be solved in a short time though. 11500 threshold is reachable, and with some luck, maybe 13000 at the end of event. In summary about daily quota, if I follow correctly (updated after checking screenshots) Day 1: 10 tasks Day 2 to 6: 15 tasks Day 7 and 8: 20 tasks Day 9 (extra day): probably 20 tasks. Ongoing task when new task set kicks in is counted in the new daily quota task. Edit: For better reading with timezone: Day # | Start - End | Daily quota | 1, Tuesday | 19th Sep 8 UTC - 20th Sep 8 UTC | 10 | 2, Wednesday | 20th Sep 8 UTC - 21st Sep 8 UTC
| 15 | 3, Thursday | 21st Sep 8 UTC - 22nd Sep 8 UTC
| 15 | 4; Friday | 22nd Sep 8 UTC - 23rd Sep 8 UTC
| 15 | 5, Saturday | 23rd Sep 8 UTC - 24th Sep 8 UTC
| 15 | 6, Sunday | 24th Sep 8 UTC - 25th Sep 8 UTC
| 15 | 7, Monday | 25th Sep 8 UTC - 26th Sep 8 UTC
| 20 | 8, Tuesday | 26th Sep 8 UTC - 27th Sep 8 UTC
| 20 | 9 (extra day), Wednesday | 27th Sep 8 UTC - 28th Sep 8 UTC
| 20 | 9 days |
| 145 |
I updated my previous post to list daily quota task per day. Checking my screenshot taking on 19th Sep, the event was initially 8 days long, ending on 27th Sep at 8UTC. So now we have 1 extra day till 28th UTC according to time left on event board. As for me, with lots of luck, I got plenty of production tasks today and completed the path with 1 extra task to spare, and with about 10 trashed tasks or expired tasks during early days .

I enjoy playing Hay Day, and am happy to make a financial contribution towards its continued development. I really don't feel the need to be compensated on this occasion. 😊 I can only speak for myself and a bunch of players and many ex-players, it is hard to see any aspect that would render this event new. Exactly the same structure that applies to the previous events. Even if it would be a new event, the obvious problem about this event is the complete lack of information and great confusion that has been created by SC on the players, which I think many players can agree with it (see reddit). In the first days, among others, the info in the game and the info on the social media were conflicting, no one knew what would happen if a task would be trashed and as such. Later, out of the blue, the number of tasks was increased to 15, and now I learn that it has been increased to 20. This is simple bad management, which has nothing to do with the game being a possibly complex, huge etc. game. How can it be that difficult to convey the accurate information to the players about the event? So, it seems quite natural to me that players who wanted to get all the gifts but did not know to which rules the game was subject spent diamonds. Had the proper and accurate information been given to the players, and had SC had the sense of responsibility towards the players to make the math properly, at least some players would not have spent diamonds for the tasks. Will SC give a form of compensation as an apologise? Of course, not. This event is only one example. They cannot even "announce" the events in a coming week correctly. When the number of such instances which show carelessness reaches to a significant degree, it does start to take attention (when I make a mistake, all is fine - I and the colleagues try to rectify. However, if I happen to make the same mistake three or four times, I am sure someone will lift a finger, which also applies to SC as a professional providing an economic activity in the relevant sector). Like many, I am also playing another game - professional developer that takes responsibility when something goes wrong. The developer apologises, players are compensated and as such. As I wrote in another post, partly it is because of the objective and fair moderators on that game forum that do not hesitate to criticise the developer when something goes wrong, instead of trying to justify an error or a problem. As the representatives of the developer are also in that forum, proper communication is assured, and all runs smoothly. As regards the problems related to the content (may be called content updates (?)), I am not a game developer so I do not know. However, Hayday is not biggest game (if I am correct), there are hard-core complex and huge games where the content update problems are negligible. Just like I am paid to do my job properly (not poorly and half-hearted unless I aim to be fired), I would expect the Hayday team or SC to do their job properly and with care. Also, I would expect from a developer which is not a rookie to be able balance the demands of different players' groups. This game has been running for years, if they cannot balance different demands, it also indicates a problem. Again, mistake (errors) happen. What counts is the frequency of the errors and how they are handled, which SC does fail in my and players (that I know) opinion. So, I do not think that many players I know quitted is a coincidence. Happy that you and some/many players still enjoy the game. Happy playing.

Just over here speculating)

Now with a bigger chance for players to be able to complete the path, let's see what went wrong this event.
1/ Change of format with unadapted task The change from Birthday event format (300 task for the whole duration) to 10 /15/20 daily task per day without adapting the task. Most of the task cannot be completed within the allocated time unless the farm is well equipped. That is the case forjam production, jelly bean production. Feeding or waking up Sanctuary animals is the worst. If players don't have enough sanctuary animals to feed all 5 or wake all 5 at once then the task that only have 1h to complete will expire. It also happens to me to take a feed pet task (1h only) before realising that all my pets bowls are already filled and won't be ready for a few hour. Task expired. When there was no daily limit with a lot more task to use, these task aren't an issue because they can be skipped. But with not only limited time to complete (daily) and limited task to use, the task is simply not adapted, in my opinion.
2/ Task only depends on XP level After months and months pushing for XP (xp event, farm pass...), I wouldn't be surprised that there are some player base with farms that are very unbalanced. By that, I mean they don't have enough coins to afford machine their level unlocks, let alone to have enough barn space/ silo space to hold enough ingredient to be able to produce whatever required for oktoberfest tasks. Some of them might not even have enough sanctuary animals for the related task. Tasks seem to be only level dependent, regardless whether the farm has the capacity to complete it or not. For these farms, the type of task they can complete is even more limited. While this prevnet player to "engineer" their farm to gain advantage, it also punish farms that are not balanced coin/space/ xp wise. It has never been an issue in Hay Day before because there was literally no strong reason to keep a farm balanced. I do think gaining XP too fast is not the best way to develop a farm and Hay Day has its part of responsibility by pushing for "xp collecting" via XP events and farm pass. Now it hits back.
3/ Bingo derby in the same week Bingo derby is like trashing event for me. It also monopolize some machine or animals waiting for the right task. It only adds difficulties to the ongoing oktoberfest event.
4/ Incoherence communication For those who aren't aware, I'm pretty sure that Hay Day, after early experiences, now goes with "Start hard, ease up later" strategy. I count on LynnK to find again the video of a game conference where Hay Day team explained that in the past. So, it's no surprise to me they "improve" the event after watching player stats and reading feedback from different paltform. But that doesn't explain why their Official Support page and Facebook page gives contradictory information. And why they can't foresee the difficulties that come with daily quota during the conception phase. Once they was told by early feedback from their NDA member, it maybe already too late to change right before an update (or would delay the update unnecessary). Releasing the update via Appstore is not instant, it takes some days for the app to be reviewed. Anyway, due to lack of clear information, causing unnecessary confusion in the early days, some players have taken decisions when they are not fully aware of the rules (that keeps changing). Had they known about the increased daily quota or the extended period, should they have decided differently. In a few weeks, player might forget how many time they spent or how many diamonds they spent, but it would be hard to forget how they feel about the event, and how they were "tricked", unintentionally or not. But again, without communication, we never know.
Anything good in this type of event? There is, indeed. Players seem to like the deco. No fraud. Task have to be performed on that same farm from scratch, no transferable result, no possibility to manipulate task randomisation. To be able to enjoy this type of event without much stress, in my opinion, the more developed farm, the better. Level is not relevant here, but rather how the barn space is configured to allow production for different tasks.
That's all, I hope Hay Day team could improve their future events and stop repeating the same mistakes time after time.

I'm also delighted Team Hay Day (THD) extended the event by one more day. However, I must disagree with Cowslips that Oktoberfest is a new event. IMO, it is not a new event based on the post written by HD Community Manager Chris in this thread a few days ago. Let's examine it. justhayday.boards.net/thread/2050/oktoberfest?page=3&scrollTo=47674Based on the above information, I'm speculating the following. THD set the easy setting for the Birthday and Colors events because they want everyone to win rewards "for free". IIRC, I had fun with the previous events and finished them in about three days or less. Maybe THD didn't want players like me to sprint past the finish line so quickly. So for the Oktoberfest event, they moved the setting to normal which caused me to finish with one day left. I didn't have fun this time. Moreover, THD are analyzing the game data and are unhappy at the number of players who have finished the event so they deployed an update last night to extend the event by one more day. Kudos to THD for having a backup plan ready if we don't meet their goals. Although my Main Farm finished the event, my Baby Farm is sprinting for 14,400 pretzels when I go to bed tonight. And thus, BF needs an extra day to finish the event.

When you complete the Octoberfest event, there will be balloons that will go from the bottom of the screen to the top of the screen. Try to burst as many as you can. You can get extra coins, diamonds, etc… They do raise fairly quickly and there’s about 10 or so balloons. Good luck everyone!! No kidding, they move quickly! At least I had the warning with a photo of the balloons from here in the forum, so I knew to try and tap them. Unfortunately, I was using my phone rather than my iPad at the time, so my window of opportunity was miniscule. I did get some! 🎈

Here’s the Dibley Fields fall fun fest. I love that so many of the new decos in the daily offers included squirrels. I moved my squirrel tree over to allow all the squirrels to join the fun. I still have to get out more fall trees to scatter around the farm. I recently noticed that there are fall foliage trees in the small size. So much going on! My deco storage is so full of good stuff that it’s a treat to scroll through. (Seriously annoying, though, to choose something and wind up back at the beginning.) As for the Oktoberfest…I managed to finish last night thanks to the bees. The tasks that put me over the top were collecting honey which I fortunately had stacked (that brought me to 14,970 🥨) and collecting honeycomb which fortunately the bees had available. 🐝🐝 I’m glad that SC decided to extend the event. I don’t remember them ever doing that before. I think I’m still scarred from the Christmas event of, maybe, 2015 when the prize was the big red bell. We didn’t achieve the global goal and there was an uproar. I wrote a song for the forum. (The Unreachable Bell, or something like that, which will now be an ear worm 🐛 for me until I can remember the lyrics.) Finland was away on winter holiday for the entire Christmas/New Years period, so there was no communication from the frozen north for weeks. I’m sure that they want us to succeed and genuinely think they are judging the balance between too easy/quick and impossible. However, it’s possible that some things do get “beta tested” on us. As long as they are willing to admit to misjudging, I can forgive them. It is hard, though, for the farmers who spent a lot of diamonds and those who judged the event impossible and gave up.

I finished the Octoberfest trail yesterday (two farms, main farm and baby farm). I made a couple of silly mistakes but got there in the end ..yay.
For long tasks, eg, jam, chocolate, etc, I used the 50% accelerator (watched lots of ads).
Boosters also helped to speed up production .. some boosters I’d had sitting there for ages prior to this game ..felt good to finally put them to use.
Now I’m happy with the new decor 😺😺😺

I was tiling a bathroom this week (tiny tiles, very time consuming)
I logged in during breaks for coffee and loaded relevant machines etc
Think every variety of jam was asked for at least once but I only did 2 of them (because it was convenient at the time) and trashed the others
I watched couple of 'half your time' vids for longer items
I spent a few odd diamonds to speed finish items (so that I could prep for next task behind and get on with tiling!)
Never did an extra task but did all the silly low point tasks along with the higher
What would have been the last day I only needed less than 500 to finish so trashed a lot of tasks to find ones I could do quickly
Fed a few pets and collected some bars from the smelter I had stacked for a nice easy finish
I would however never have got to that stage without the extra 5 tasks being added day 2 or 3 (or whatever it was) then the extra 5 again day 4 or 5 (or whatever it was)

Totally gorgeous Dibley Fields. I love the look at the autumn set up in my friends farms Ours are not like that here and it’s spring, summer here. I call it that because weather gets hot fast it’s like it’s mashed together. Bauldersgate would love to see your tiles funny story been walking pass a guy that has been doing small tile work on his front veranda , hoping to see it finished this arvo when I walk into Perth to pick up hubby. Unless I get really good tasks and they add more I’m not going to make the final table. I’m okay with that the disappointment left a couple of days ago. Will happy admire others. Totally loving everyone’s input. The ready has be so interesting. Well said totally agree and can see all points.

During my time in the official Supercell forums and here in JHD, I posted links to in-person presentations given by Supercell developers to their fellow peers. Sadly, I don't recall watching a video explaining Supercell's "Start hard, ease up later" strategy. I found it. Camilla's talk in 2019 GameFirst conference . Topic is about inflation in games. Around 30minutes in, when talking about new economy, when in doubt, start hard then reduce as needed. A few slides later, another take away is to never take decision during panic as it would create more problems.

A few slides later, another take away is to never take decision during panic as it would create more problems. It’s actually a very smart general strategy.👍 It’s better to ease up and appear generous, than tighten up and appear mean. However, I’m not sure how it worked in this instance. If looking at Oktoberfest 2023 alone, it might appear to be the case. But one could argue - and one does 😏 - that Big Picture, SC started easy (the “give away” Birthday and Colours events) then got hard (this Oktoberfest event). Also allow me to say here - rather than starting a new post - that in her previous post, Cowslips did put the word “new” in inverted commas. I therefore read that as her reference to the new rules of this Oktoberfest given its similarity to the Birthday and Colours events. In that context I think her point was well made. And (housekeeping) I think you’re right that it was during the December 2022 gift box event that SC extended the time. I knew it was relatively recent but I just couldn’t bring it to mind. Thanks.

A nice little offer to get more musical pigs and complete that Oomp pa band. SC would have caught me well and good with Guitar Pig and/or Drum Pig.🫣 But I suppose…Oktoberfest. Can't have it all.🤷♀️😊

No kidding, they move quickly! At least I had the warning with a photo of the balloons from here in the forum, so I knew to try and tap them. Unfortunately, I was using my phone rather than my iPad at the time, so my window of opportunity was miniscule. I did get some! 🎈 They go round in a continuous loop! you can go back on the event task completion screen (by clicking on the picture of the bench with the green tick) and then click on the ones that escaped you the first time in as many tries of their floating loop as needed 😁 I wish that worked for me!... no re-do on my farm.

I finally (just) finished the event. It would have been impossible without the extra days. I did all the tasks yesterday and was still just over 2200 pretzels behind. This was quite the experience.😆

I managed to finish in the end with the additional tasks and day, I wouldn’t have otherwise. It was very challenging and not as enjoyable as the last time. I hope the Christmas event is more fun as last years was great.

I didn’t think it was possible to make it to the end. I was so behind to my amazement my board had big tasks. I did fall short by 60 pretzels at the end but brought the spare task and was able to make it to the last reward. I know where I went wrong. Only hope sc learns and adjusts there mistakes for next round. I feel I spent way to many diamonds to be honest.

My smaller farms finished with the extension, but my baby farm only just squeaked in, I had only 3 tasks left. That was the one that hardly got any large point tasks, & kept getting really long time tasks (like 3 lollipops for 80 points) for minor points.

I see the point for both here. I don’t know whether we’ll get “compensation” or not, but I did spend more diamonds than needed because I really wanted to be sure I’d finish, because of multiple long and/or low point tasks and limited ability to trash things. As a result, I chose not to get the drindl(?) pig for 59 diamonds. I’ll live, but it still makes me a little bit sad that I couldn’t get the whole set. Just glad I finished this morning, finally. I bet the dirndl pig will come around again in a couple of years, so you’ll have another chance at it mommysnooks. I’m going to buy it on my main farm to support the game, and I need more diamonds soon. The pathetic part is I think I’ll be too tired to even put the new decos out now. 😂😂 I did get a chance at the pig. Because I shelled out for the diamond package. Thanks, SC. Now I have deco and diamonds and a thinner wallet, lol.

I really am grateful for the extension and other changes SC has made during this event to make it more reasonable for more players. That said when the extension came I had decided to give up on my level 60 baby farm. It was just too much of a struggle. Suddenly I did get some higher point value tasks for lobsters and ducks and such however with the constant coin pressure in those levels my lobster tank and duck salon are not properly upgraded yet. And I’m behind on a few machines. I even try not to level up too fast buts it’s near impossible not to fall behind. And no I don’t feed tons of coins or other stuff to my baby farm from my main and that’s on purpose. It just wasn’t doable. As a result this event did break something with me. I was so excited to see this Oktoberfest event at first before I learned about all the changes. Today this moon thing event showed up and all I though was “oh no” “not again”. This event is completely ruined for me.
