I remember the day the Forum lost me my HD innocence.🙊
When I started playing I made an early decision to not plant wheat. Figured it was quick and cheap (10 coin) and I had been finding it easily in the DD so I allotted other crops to the few plots we are given when starting. To my horror, as soon as I did that, everybody in my DD was somehow selling wheat at 36 coins. I could not spend 36 coins on wheat! I had to plant.
Then one day a few weeks in I found a farm in the DD selling 10 wheat for 1 coin. “CC3” was his farm name. I quickly followed him. NHs had been introduced the week or so after I started the game. I remembered thinking how cute it was that all 15 members of his NH had matching names. 🙈😄 From CC1 through CC15. For months I had a reliable source of cheap wheat from my game friend and my farm thrived! We had a great relationship until…
Unexpectedly, he just stopped planting and selling. I hung on as a follower for many months afterward hoping he’d come back, wondering what had happened to him. Wondering if there was any way I could get to follow one of the other CCs in his NH.
Then one day, I did more than the cursory “specific information” lurk (I had not yet joined as a member) I was accustomed to on the forum. I saw a thread talking about bots (back then the rules were looser). I was very confused at first. What was a bot? Turns out the forumers were happy to say so I kept reading.
Several posts in, I realised that my dear CC3 and his whole cute neighbourhood maybe/could be/probably was a bot and that SUP-ERC-ELL (that’s a whole other story!) had maybe/probably cut off his lifeline.
So yeah. Innocence lost. 😄 Not all “farmers” were flesh and blood and undue association could get your farm banned. I waved goodbye to CC. I still have a soft spot for “him” though. Those several months of cheap wheat helped my farm immensely.

Those several months of cheap wheat helped my farm immensely. Here's my "innocence lost" story which occurred during the period I started playing HD but before I discovered the Supercell forums. From the newspaper I found a farm which advertised 10 bolts for 1 coin so I followed the farm named Ro. For the next few days, I bought bolts daily until Ro unfollowed me which helped me in the long run. IIRC, Supercell staff warned us that buying from a bot farm once is OK, but buying regularly may lead to sanctions which include a temporary ban to permanent ban. I thought Ro was short for Rowena but it was actually Robot. ;-) ==LynnK==

Hey guys. Remember how before Greg’s Advent Calendar (and the many derbies, actually), we used to get a special Christmas Derby? Each column would be chock full of decorations. One year, IIRC, there were even extra columns. Oh the days.
Now I prefer the treasure hunt on Greg’s farm, but knowing that the derby was coming and wondering what decos would surface that year was a lovely anticipatory delight. Back in the day. 😉😊

I remember the days when, after placing an ad in your road side stand, you had to wait a half hour to place another one (or choose to spend diamonds).

I remember back in the days where there were only one kind of global contest: the fishing event.🎣
Thankfully the game has a lot more features now, which most likely is the reason I am still hooked on this game 8 or 9 years later. The constant development of the game is what makes it interesting even after so many years. Admittedly some of those changes are frustrating as h***, but I still love this game. 💕
