Dear farmer,
regarding to this thread:
I want to report the experiences I made yesterday. I wanted to expand a lot on the bottom of my farm where no permits are required. It's the lot beneath my Halloween deco. To open it I needed from every LEM 36 pieces.
With patience and a little bit luck I gained the required number of mallets and marker stakes, but I was missing land deeds. Funny, in the past I had always too many land deeds and a lack of mallets and marker stakes, but this time it occurs to be the opposite. What could I do? The DD is no option, all farmer need LEM, and so are none available.
So I decided to force my town. In this matter I used not only the "normal" train but also every 1,5 hour my personal train. I made sure to have always enough town visitors available, when using the personal train again. And in this way the gap for land deeds decreased.
Yesterday I had a gap from over 10 land deeds, in the evening were only 4 one missing. And today in the morning when I feeded my animals and pets and so on I got the missing land deeds. It appeared to me as if the game knew that I was eager of land deeds. And so I was able to expand the lot in the edge, I was very happy about it.
Regarding to this it's my firm opinion that the town is the most effective and balanced place in HayDay. The same is stated in the thread I linked for you.
And I must also tell you that as I was in Level 60 or so, I didn't wanted to expand my town. It annoyed me because almost every shop was default, I had to expand every detail. That tooks in my opinion too much time and nerves. But some day I changed my mind. With the help of some other farmers in another forum I got the missing items to expand with trading very quickly. And soon I realized how amazing the town can be if you use it thourough.
So, my conclusion is not to be frightened by the complexity of the town. It takes time to develop, but it's worth. In every respect.
But on the other side, the preferences to play HayDay are varying, so I would be pleased to hear your experiences. What you prefer, and why you do so.
Thanks for your answers, donkeyfan

I love the town and the boats. And derby. Trucks I like once in a while when there’s an event on, and I’ll empty out my barn and rebuild after the event.
The one area I’ve never liked is the valley. Never got the hang of it the first couple of times I tried it .. with those clouds and the strange driving around which seemed so pointless, I gave up on it and played other areas of the farm that I enjoyed. It may be because I didn’t spend enough time to figure it out, since I do see a lot of chat about it and people who enjoy it. After I retire I’ll probably spend some time at it trying to figure it out. 😎

shepherdgirl Thank you very much for your point of view. LOL, I must admit that I didn't like boats. I dealt with them in the past only for permit events which are long gone, sadly. With the implementation from the farmpass they will never occur again. The only exception for me to deal with boat orders is in derby but only when it's inevitable or when it's required for the farmpass. Actually I use the free farmpass. Truck orders...I can't say I "love" them either. I figure I handle them only when I feel like it. Valley is always inconvenient to me, in this respect FullAck to you. But in the valley are often items I desire and that's the reason I attend to it. For example this time I can get 3 permits, 6 mallets, 1 land deed and 1 marker stake. So I'm trying to handle it as well as possible. But you can be sure that if not much land would have been added my efforts would be much less. I don't like the valley either. So I mostly concentrate on my town. I can handle it easily, I can always choose what to do or not to do, and I can change my priorities as needed. Actually I use very often my personal train because for every served townie I'm getting an item. And the chance to receive the wanted LEW is greater as to use the other possibilities.

The opportunity for Valley exclusive deco may be the driving force (no pun intended). After the first valley season, I wanted to give up. And I’m not great at it, but can at least get enough tokens to get the deco and a few extra goodies, like scrolls, EMs, etc. As far as this thread, I have found that as long as I’m working the town I have enough axes and saws to keep the farm neat. I love the events in the town where you are guaranteed barn or silo EMs. I just wish SC would find something that would engage players more in the town. With much of HayDay’s features, an understanding of how it all works does help. I’m not a maths type of person, but I will trust those that have experimented long and hard to figure it out. 👍

Momscar, I didn’t even clue in about valley specific deco until just now. Thank you for that heads up! Yes for sure that’s a reason I’ll try to understand it. I may ask you for some (er… a lot of) mentoring tips. It will be nice to have some new deco to strive for, for sure.

I am an enthusiastic town player. My personal train is maxed at 10, and my buildings are fully expanded, so the town is a great source of bonus items. (Lem, sem, bem, tem, saws, axes). excess items collected go in my stand.
I do play the valley, but only to get tokens to get the special deco item package offered at the end and permits, of course. The sanctuary truck breakdowns and animal escapees both annoy me no end. And tokens are hard to accumulate in the chicken valley, which is also annoying.
I do easy boats, to add to my voucher collection. But not very many during the current triple XP event.
I do the blue truck orders for metal bars and occasionally jewelry, also to get vouchers.
I mostly ignore sanctuary animals but feed pets (I have all of them). Pets give me lots of expansion items, saws and axes. Sanctuary animals give mostly XP, which I am not enthusiastic about accumulating because the higher your level, the more demanding are your boats, townies and trucks.
I do the free farm pass only to get the 1 permit at the end. This time there is a cute fish deco offered, also! I do not collect the XP any more, because it makes you level up too fast.
I play the derby occasionally but opt out when my real life is busy. When I play, though, I like to do all 320 tasks and finish 9 tasks as quickly as possible. My hood is very relaxed about the derby. We like to stay in the champions league and usually finish some place in the middle. Trophy acquisition is not our goal. We do try to get all the horseshoes, though. I always opt out of the mystery derby.

🌻 Farmgirl 👩🌾Yes, I agree. The most you mentioned about handling your farm and town is similar to me. I have also all pets, my town is fully developed, and as you I like it very much to finish a derby ASAP.

My daughter and I are heavy town plays and I find that I get more expansion stuff, axes and saws from playing there than any other place.
I took a brief hiatus from playing Hay Day (before they had sanctuary animals) and about a year ago decided to play again since time allows, but with all the new things I missed I'm way behind in upgrading barn/silo and getting puzzle pieces. I seldom do boats unless it's a derby task I take or if it has a puzzle piece as a reward.
I also find that playing the town helps me keep my barn space low enough to where I can keep BEMs and SEMs and upgrade quicker due to all the new products I found I had to make. I think I had to buy four new machines when I came back. Thankfully I had the money to get them, but it nearly wiped me out.

Hi Xanadu , also thank you very much for your input. Very interesting. Yes, FullAck! That's hard for the moment, but you can gain coins easily when you use consequent your town. And additional RSS. But I think I mustn't mention it, you know what to do.

For me, I have not really focused on the town for most of my playing days (Level 113 Farm), but am slowly starting to get into it. I only do boats that have puzzle pieces linked to them. The sanctuary animals take an eternity to complete, but I have around 16 right now. I'm trying so hard

Hi TheKitchenI understand that. As I stated earlier, there was a time when I also decided not to expand the town, I did not feel like it. But at this point I had level 60, and I realized the higher you are in the level the more difficult it is to deal with it. The best example is my sister-in-law. She begun with expanding town when she was beyond level 100. It was pretty much harder to achieve the full development. But it has worked. I don't want to scare you, you can achieve it if you really want. But be aware that it will take a little more time. I wish you consequence and stamina.

I don’t mind boats and I like trucks when it is an event or double XP.

I don't have a favorite place. Guess I like everything about equally. Fishing used to be my least favorite. Now that I know there are methods to catching each fish, I actually like that area too.

I don't know whether you know that but fishing can be quite efficient when a special event occurs. I mean a "special fishing event". It's not long ago we had one. Did you use it?
This event is very, very rare, but when it occurs you should be prepaired by having a great number of lures, especially the coloured ones. Only in this special event you're able to fish some rare fishes, and if you are lucky and you can use a booster for more weight your chance to gain more diamonds will increase.
I remember that RescueSquad15. (RS 15)🪓 explained shortly in another thread the advantage from the fishing area if you consider some rules.
The last time I used this event I gained so many diamonds that I was able to increase every of my 5 smelters with one more slot. Now I have 8 for every one, that's very convenient.

CU, donkeyfan Hi donkeyfan Great advice. Thanks. I did use the last fishing event we had to finish my fish book on my main farm. 🙂 Now we just need more of them. My baby farm patiently awaits. 😆

Update to my town activities: I reduced them back to the normal level. It was efficient to use excessive the personal train to get more needed items especially LEM, but I must admit it requires more time. And meanwhile I must admit that it's laborious too, if you do this constantly. But I'm very glad with my achievements, so I can deal now with the normal "flow" of my town. It's sufficient. But it's good to know that it really helps if you are in short supply of special items. Of course it takes time, but if you are consequent you will success. And that counts.
