Exactly what I wrote in the threads about deco, July update and events. You will always have hoarders that don’t feel happy if something isn’t complete. Same now with the deco collection book. Players will buy diamonds that they can use to get the mystery’s boxes with deco. I guess the games knows what you already have and that the possibility to get what you want is very low, unless you’re willing to create revenue for SC. As long as players are willing to do so this is the next way for SC to make money.
My guess is that the focus will be on more actual farm based related deco once their new golden nugget mine dries up. 😉🤘

I've already not completed some of the deco collections, so it will be very easy in the future to ignore new collections. Of course, I'll gather those stickers that come along as a part of the game, but I have little incentive to spend real money on such things.
Another game I play daily also seems to have learned monetization skills recently. Their "daily trade" now offers better rewards, but the items you need to trade are no longer ones that are easily attained. In addition, you have to trade several times to get the main reward, and you don't know what trades will be required as each shows only when the one before is completed. There's usually something horrible! You can refresh using gems, of course, but I've found that it often refreshes with something unhelpful. It's very obvious that the trade system is set up to take account of what I have - some very strange items are needed at first, but - bizarrely - I happen to have them in stock. When I've been sucked in it hits me with the difficult stuff.
After a few days of trialing the new system I've now decided to pretty much ignore the daily trades.
I suspect that an unexpected consequence for the developers is that I may also cease buying the monthly pass. 🤔

lynnk2021 I am not sure whether the new collection books is to acknowledge as the "biggest genius scheme". It's smart, yes, but nothing new or special. The intention behind this is that obvious, there is no need for discussing it. Don't get me wrong, I like it very much that you've addressed this issue, but I don't agree with the TO on Reddit. If you see this you should recognize on the first sight what is behind it. Team HayDay is "playing" with the feelings of the players, addressing their desire for cute deco and to those who are longing for completeness by all means. It's a clever approach bc many won't or can't resist. Or both. But it's not brilliant or even extraordinary. It's a common approach to get people spending money. However, it's a very personal thing. Either you have the strength to say no for spending money for these collecting events and take the consequences by missing something or you buy the missing items when offered in the shop right away. What I don't like is playing with the players feelings with the so called "surprise boxes". Yes, I know, you can withstand. I don't want to know how many can't and are wasting their diamonds bc the desired deco won't appear, though. That's something I think is perfid bc the game knows very well what you have and what you are lacking of. It's squeezing money out from gullible players. It's not fair. I want to make clear that's my personal opinion. As for me I have no difficulties to withstand such temptation since I am aware how this ends.

Honestly it's not such a big surprise what they did with this collection book and the surprise boxes. Many games nowadays are HEAVILY monetized, especially the ones running for at least as long as Hay Day or even more years. Nothing like it used to be 10-12 years ago... But it is still the player's choice if and how much money one wants to invest in the game. No one is forced to buy everything. And the game is still very enjoyable even if it's not possible to "win" everything! Who knows, maybe they will improve the method in the future and make it a little bit more accessible? It would be nice from them to offer a free collection every now and then, just to keep their free to play players who played the game for a long time. I guess only time will show what will happen.

Considering how much overlap there is in the collection book with deco items from previous years, it’s possible that items that are only available in the shop this time around will appear as event prizes or other “earnable” options in future. Of course, there may be new $$ additions to collections that would mean it would still be difficult to complete collections, but I’m becoming increasingly more patient with the acquisition of decor — especially with the lack of space to create scenes. I’m happy to rotate decor in and out of storage, but there are so many wonderful items available that lend themselves to year-round farm decor and permanent cultural areas (machines and decor) that it’s overwhelming.

MiniGardener Completely correct. I am also in the situation for lacking space since ages. I got used to it but it means not having much options for new deco to place. So it's sufficient for me to change arrangements from time to time. I do this often since it's one of the things I love. Additional, as you know....my donkeys need from time to time the possibility to explore a new area. That's something I enjoy so much. 😍

Nice, deco we need for collection book available for real money in a deco/diamond and deco/deco offer. 🤔 Very "nice" bc totally overpriced. Not gonna happen. Does this surprise me? No, just the opposite. It's typical, the expensive offers as well. I'd have been surprised if they had make it cheaper.

I have only completed the Hay Day letters collection. I've never spent real money on games and never will. Currently there are around 1060 different decos in Hay Day. I have 645 of them, either bought with vouchers, coins, diamonds or gained by playing events/ derby / valley etc. All gathered in 6 years of playing. Not interested to have them all. Good luck and congratulations to any player that makes it! 👏

Later on we will have the global boat event I believe for the tropical 🧺, another long grind………

Cause I have no clue how many I have…..

Cause I have no clue how many I have….. I was curious about how many exist and began a research. Can't remember how long ago it was. So screenshots were taken of decos from farms or Wiki or YouTube videos and put in a folder which now shows 1062 items. (I admit i counted the stonemason's deco 3 times: pagoda, birdbath and fountain were too different to count them once). If there is one collection i would like to complete is learning the official name for each of them. For the ones i have myself on the farm i keep an alphabetical list and whenever i get a new deco i insert it in its place, making sure i don't count any twice. The list has 645 rows now.

Looks good, but…aren’t transaction fees more than that? And how many pages would a credit card statement be with these popping up? 😝.

Looks good, but…aren’t transaction fees more than that? And how many pages would a credit card statement be with these popping up? 😝. I only got one of these offers on each of my two farms, the offer then disappeared. My credit card charged me £1 rather than £0.29 for each one, I’m guessing that’s the minimum per transaction.

I wish I had read this thread before I wasted my money on Hay Day’s gambling encouragement program. It is a lot of diamonds for a % chance to get your desired item - and you get the same item every try. Made me remember why I stopped playing last year. As a result of this money grabbing, gambling activity I will no longer spend real money, not even on farm pass and my monthly entertainment budget will be spent elsewhere. See how that backfired Supecell.

The "surprise boxes" are pure rip-off. Players should not support this profiteering. lizdiz I am sorry for your bad experience. I know it's no comfort that you aren't alone since many players are tempted to bet against the odds. It will be mostly - better said nearly always - a disappointment. You will loose your diamonds for nothing. In my opinion is such business conduct cringeworthy. If SC would provide the players with a special offer for a prize ( diamonds or real money) it'd be OK, since you know what you get for your money. Those surprise boxes are an absolute gamble and should be eliminated.
