For the best of Hay Day in 2023, I nominate the Oktoberfest Task Event for promoting cultural literacy. Kudos Team Hay Day for celebrating a real life event which takes place annually in Germany. I'm familiar with Oktoberfest since I learned to speak German many, many years ago. I was so happy and was tempted to drink some Bavarian beer and sing "Ode to Joy" at the top of my voice. My performance might cause Schiller and Beethoven to roll over in their graves but I digress. For the worst of Hay Day in 2023, I nominate how buggier the game has been than usual because the team hasn't retained Game Testers for whatever reasons. I present Exhibit A and Exhibit B for your review, www.reddit.com/r/HayDay/comments/13didk5/hay_day_is_growing_and_seeking_senior_game_tester/archive.ph/AfNT4What the hell happened to the Game Tester hired in May? Did she or he left for greener pastures for Brawlstars? I hope the Game Tester hired in December will remain with Team Hay Day or the HD General Manager might need to meet with the HR Manager to get some coaching about nurturing employees' morale, IMO.

I'll make my nominations short and sweet.
Best- 1) I have appreciated all of the "attempts" by SC in introducing new things to the game (whatever their intended goal, or the outcomes of these attempts). 2) Continuing to play HD in 2023 has allowed me to make many new friends, as well as strengthen the bonds I have with my existing friends. 3) This forum wouldn't exist if HD didn't!
Worst- Lack of communication and organization on the part of SC.

Best I would say like above the friends that come with this game and Halloween simply because like the spooky reminds me of the shows I watched growing up. Loved the spider deco this year one of my favourites
Worst the bugs that haven’t been fixed in the game that have been around for a while.
Looking forward to see what sc bring to the game for 2024

Without doubt the best is the friends I have made in the original forum and this one. They have become in game friends and I would not be still playing after 11 years otherwise. The worst is the bugs that SC deny exist or have not fixed. My last helpers list only shows a few of those who help and my personal train is still not working as it should.

I agree, best for me - not only for 2023 but also before - having friends all over the world, and especially being part of this awesome community. Without HayDay I'd have had never the possibility to do so.
The Oktoberfest was a great event in my eyes as well, despite of the little shortcomings during the event. I have to admit....German language is not the problem in general, but Bavarian German is. Not always and easy to understand bc it's idiom, not Standard German. 😉
Worst thing is, was and will remain in the future - I suspect - the already mentioned lack of communication in general. The damage caused through incompetence regarding this matter is huge and so unnecessary.

I love all you guys and this forum (obviously 😁)
I'm grateful that despite all the issues the game is still going after all these years and that they are still trying to keep it fresh and new
Supercells timings could be better (release of seasonal decorations sooner, difficult derby's not coinciding with new and interesting task events, etc)
And the basic communication to players (especially those that are not on social media) could be miles, miles better 😅
And because hope springs eternal:
-I wish we could banish chicken valleys 🤣
-I wish there was a decoration search function inside the layout function!

As so many have mentioned one of the best things is how this forum has evolved to being almost part of the game itself. My worst pet peeve is the automated support that either can't or won't work. (Plus the fact that the new glitch won't even let you contact them!)

Perennial best: friends from around the world in the game and here in the forum. 2024 will be ten years farming for me. Perennial worst: focus on shiny new features rather than developing/improving existing neglected elements (town, fishing, valley, Maggie, …)
2023 best: the improvement that allows us to see how many of each product are on hand in each machine and what ingredients are needed. Genius. Something that players have requested for years. It made all the difference in the world when I needed to make the holiday gifts to know what ingredients I was running low on. 👍🏽I also love the global variety of holidays that are acknowledged.
2023 “thanks for trying”: attempt to improve the decor storage — way more work needed
2023 worst: Endless addition of new crops and sanctuary animals. Boring…and I’m not easily bored.
SLIGHTLY UNRELATED THOUGHT THAT CAME TO MIND WHILE I WAS CONTEMPLATING BEST/WORST: Does anyone remember the thread from the old forum that went on forever that had spoofs of things farmers found ridiculous? I believe the OP’s name had the word “Sugar” in it. I loved that thread. When I first found it, I read something like 50 pages of posts all the way from the beginning. It never got old. Of course, the funniest was when someone would post something serious not realizing that any gripe we had was presented tongue-in-cheek. If anyone can remember how that worked, it would be fun to start over again here.

So many things have been mentioned here while I’ve been mulling this over, and I still don’t know, lol.
In terms of the game itself, I liked some of the events and new decos, and that they’re still trying to do new things with the game.
The worst, though, are the ongoing bugs that seem to be ignored (like this current train bug that they know about, yet —“Let’s run a global train event with this bug going on, and triple the goal while we’re at it”). Whaaat?
Maybe this runs into the communication, coordination and timing issues people have mentioned as well. This month in particular, as an example—it seems like they had a long list of event ideas for December and just threw them in wherever, without consideration of what just came before, is going on during the event, or is coming up next. We’re wanting something new, but not six things at once and four weeks of nonstop “extra” things to do.
Personal worst…so much has been added to the game over the years and they STILL won’t rebalance the scheme/amounts for upgrading buildings, adding several new products requiring dairy but no practical way to increase dairy production, etc. (I don’t think these new boosters are going to suit my gameplay—no time to hang out for an hour or whatever, no decrease in time it takes to collect milk, no barn space to store a bunch of milk to take advantage of a boosted dairy…?).
It’s hard to put my finger on one thing.
At least a lot has been happening, which has to be a good sign?
***Here’s to the forum and forum/game friends who help me figure things out, listen to me vent, and provide encouragement. I wouldn’t be playing without you.***. Happy New Year, everyone. 🙏💕😊🎆
