Just noticed we can see a whole page of products and quantities when clicking a machine, and make changes. And was I dreaming or did townies sent to grocery store automatically have their requests answered? Wow. It is even more of a pleasure to play now, thank u!!!

I did not notice any townies being served automatically.
What I did notice is that the game did not feel as smooth when filling machines and serving townies. Also, for a right handed person, when loading a machine, I cannot see (because my hand is in the way) if I am low on or have none of items needed to produce items. It’s been very frustrating!
Note: I use an iPad Pro. I cannot speak to Android users if this is an issue.

Mom’sCar You are right. The ingredients list is covered for me as well. As a "righty" I have to bend my hand. I'm fine with it cause it rarely happens and if it should happen, I don't bother. It's ok for me, the pros outweighs the cons. I appreciate the change very much.

Now I must wonder if my right hand is smaller than the posters' of this thread because I don't see an issue and I'm right- handed. ;-)
EDIT: I play on a Samsung Galaxy tablet with 4x7 inch screen.

Game is now laggy on IPhone. Not a smooth movement anymore, more of a dragging feeling with everything. I love the set up though.

Save game using Supercell ID (if you haven't done so) 2. Uninstall game. 3. Reinstall game. 4. Turn off device. 5. Turn on device, cross your fingers, and say a little prayer to the Game Gods. And you get all this without contacting Supercell Automated Support and getting a pulsating headache in the process. ;-)

On the other thread about the update, it was noted that on iPad, at least, we just have to tap on the product and the ingredients list comes up for a few seconds, where nothing is in the way. I hold the iPad in landscape mode, one hand on each side, if that makes a difference—not sure? If I need more time to look again, I just tap it again.

I also use my iPad in landscape mode, but when I tap on a product with my right hand in its usual tapping position (open-handed), the ingredients list is hidden under my hand—and I have to move my hand aside to see it. With some products I can get around that by making a loose fist and then just using one finger to tap on it, but I find that awkward and it doesn’t work with products that have more than 2 ingredients (because the additional ingredients are hidden under my fist).

I am absolutely delighted with the recent change that has the number of items in the barn beside each item. This is something that I remember requesting years ago (probably more than once) in the old forum. I’m left-handed, so the ingredient list to the right is okay. My current machine-filling method is to tap on the machine, lift my finger to see what the barn stock is for page one, tap through the other pages looking at the stock for each item, tap on the item I’m interested in producing to see what my ingredient stock is, then fill the machine as usual. Currently, I’m stacking potato bread for a derby task, and when I tap the ingredient list it stays visible long enough for me to figure out how much more butter and sugar I need to make to produce all the potato bread I need. I lift my finger/hand enough to see everything between each tap. Very happy!
I had already conditioned myself to use “tap and release” since the big UI change that drove us all nuts to begin with. I think my system is pretty fair to left and right-handers. Tap gets our hands out of the way and prevents the old problem of unintended loading of things into the machines. There are things I already did “tap and release” for to make sure I’m using the tool I want — no chopping down original trees (although I still do that occasionally) and no harvesting berries when I mean to harvest crops.

Same for me, my hand is in front of it too. It is the natural way to hold it at the side unless I turn my screen and tap from the bottom of the screen. Tapping and moving hand away from the screen is too time consuming and also not natural when holing an ipad in two hands. I hope supercell Chris [Supercell] can change this slightly to make it a better fit.

Hi everyone, Reading your posts, I feel that your current way to handle your big screen device might be suitable to read or watch, but probably not ergonomic enough for frequent interaction. However, none of you give detailes information about how you hold the device and how big the screen is. With the billions of possibilities out there, it's impossible to give proper advice.
I can only describe how I play. Maybe some of you could try to see how it improved your ergonomic issue?
I remember when I started learning how to write, I as told to put the writing paper closer to my hand so I can see what I write without my hand covering it.
When it applies to Hay Day, I usually do the following:
For phone screen 6": I hold the hand with both hands, the icons are alway within reach of my both thumbs (except the star level in the old UI which is slightly off the reach) When I want to tap on a machine on the farm, I don't leave the holding position put use my thumb to move the screen so the machin is within reach of one of the thumb, then tap on it. I would often zoom in as well to the auto-screen-adjusting is less annoying.
For iPad 7"9 (iPad mini): I simply don't hold it with my hands (too heavy in long time and would cause wrist problem plus other fatigue when lying). I put it down (on a desk, on my laps, on any plane surface or in an angle tht my wrist is comfortable with). This is the same thing you choose to position your hand versus physical keyboard position when you need to do lots of typing. Now my hands are free to move without holding heavy tablet, I half-fold fingers I don't use and keep only index to interact with the screen. Other fingers could be use for multi-finger gesture (zoom, harvesting, multi collect, multi reviving...). When half folded, my fingers hide less part of the screen and I can see more. I could position the iPad so that my finger (index here) form different angle with the tablet bottom edge. I find one position that is comfortable for me, not just I can interarct but won't cause proble with my wrist in the long time. I am right handed but I could alos do stuff with my left hand. Since both my hand are free and the tablet is on a desk, I could also move the screen so that the machine I want to tap is within reach of my left hand and use its index to tap. They both support each other and help me make decision of what to make. Even when I hold iPad with both hands, My free fingers are index and thumb with barely hide the sides of the screen. I move screen so that what I want to tap comes within reach of one of the fingers.
In conclusion: I hope you can experience some other ways to see how it could impreove your interaction with mobile device, not just for Hay Day but for any occasion.
Important: If you experience pain or fatigue when holding device for a long time, it could be the hint that the way you are doing is not ergonomic. An internet search could point you to various reading about ways to improve the situation. The way you are currently doing might be natural, it is not necessary ergonomic for you.

Agree with all the above. The new qty UI is much improved, but the ingredients being hidden is kind of bad.
At first I just kept loading and lived with all errors of not enough ingredients … that was very annoying. Now I’m trying to load machines with my left hand. They do say that it good for brain training to do things with the unnatural hand, but I can only do it for so long before it just gets frustrating.
There must be a way for SC to make the UI work for both lefties AND righties. Maybe showing the ingredients above, instead of to the side.

PS, Frog, I don’t hold my iPad. I sit it on one of those hard placemat boards in my lap, and prop it using a plinth (which is the most awesome invention imo). I got my first one as swag at some conference event many years ago, and when I dropped in on the floor last year and broke it I ordered a few the from UK company who makes them, even tho I live in Canada, that’s how good it is! www.myplinth.co.uk/plinth/

Nothing wrong with how I hold my ipad, managed for the last ten years without issue. Only the change in the last few days has caused a problem.

I play on an iPad Pro, and I am right handed. I just don’t understand the issue that several have posted that their hand blocks the ingredients list. My hand never blocks anything. I tap the machine it shows on the left, all the products and how many of each I have. If I tap an individual product it shows the ingredients on the right for that individual product. At no moment does my hand or fingers block anything. I am puzzled by others having a problem with it. For me after many years of playing, I love this UI update!

I use a full-size iPad and I do not hold it. I prop it at an angle on my lap or on a table so both hands are free, although I only use my left index finger. I only use my left when holding my phone in my right hand. I’m someone who has never mastered the two-thumb method of anything.

It is good that you have no issues, but others do and have different experiences to yourself. This is my screen using my right hand pressing a product to load. As you can see my hand covers the ingredients list so I need to remove my hand completely from the screen to see it. I have never had to do this before in over ten years playing. I am playing on ipad air. I have not tried it on my iphone 7 as the screen is too small but I will see if that has the same issue.

First of all, thank you Butterfly for sharing a screenshot of your right hand in relation to your device. It's very helpful for me to understand your issue. For almost ten years of playing HD, my hand has been in a similar position except I use my middle finger instead of my index finger. After the recent update, I didn't notice until now I pulled my right hand subconsciously if I want to see the ingredients list.

Yes Butterfly as I stated I realize some have an issue with it. Thanks for your screenshot…try just tapping a product to see it’s ingredients instead of holding your finger on the product.

Tapping is working for me too. Initially I didn’t realise if I tapped the product and lifted my finger that I would be able to see.

Yes I am tapping and moving, but as mentioned previously with arthritis in my hand the extra moving is quite painful. My hand didn’t cover the list before so didn’t have to move so much extra. I am just not filling machines as much as usual.

The thing with tapping and waiting is the waiting. I just like to fill machines fast fast fast, boom boom boom done. I too use my middle finger like Lynn, not my index finger. There is zero chance of keeping the rest of my paw from covering the ingredients.

I use a Targus stylus to play with instead of my finger. It makes it so much easier for me. I had a habit of hitting the wrong thing. You can buy them on Amazon.

It is more than annoying, that one have to click twice to see, if one can produce an item and then you can only see that, if you remove your hand/finger. Personally I am just waiting for me to unintentional to use a lot of diamonds, because I have issues seing, if I have the items needed. Once again an update that feels un-betaed.
