Disappointed there are no new Lunar New Year decorations yet in the game, especially as it’s this Sunday. Was hoping to be able to decorate my farm more this week leading up to it.

I think there will be a Chinese New Year deco as the prize for the global help event this coming Sunday. Unfortunately, as usual, Hay Day doesn't have these holiday events prior to the holiday so that the deco can be out for the week up to the holiday.

Yes, since the holiday has already started (hasn’t it?), I was thinking we’d see some new items. I’ve got the chick swinging on the gate(?) and the dog, lion, a couple of jade dragons. I kept the fireworks cart out even thought they aren’t traditional firecrackers. But nothing newer.
I got a second hockey rink. 😂

I'm in doubt about reaching global event. Some might boycott if they keep not using "Lunar New Year" . I sure will .

I'm in doubt about reaching global event. Some might boycott if they keep not using "Lunar New Year". I sure will . I don't know why I sensed a disturbance in the Force until I found the above post. I usually don't check the in game news tab for the list of events for the week. When I saw "Monday: Global Truck Event (Chinese New Year)", I knew I found the source of the disturbance. I'm stunned and disappointed Team Hay Day chose "Chinese New Year" instead of the more inclusive Lunar New Year which is one of the most important celebrations in many Asian cultures. AFAIK, Supercell has a good reputation for being culturally literate until this major blunder. What the hell, Supercell!? Sadly, there's a possibility which is far worse than Supercell's alleged cultural illiteracy. I'm speculating Supercell has lost its operational independence and is under a direct order from its parent company Tencent to use "Chinese New Year" instead of the more inclusive "Lunar New Year". I didn't think it was a possible scenario until now. I pray to the game gods my speculation is wrong. If true, it's a sad day for Supercell and its players, IMHO. EDIT: IMO, by using "Chinese New Year", Supercell has alienated Asian cultures who celebrate Lunar New Year instead of Chinese New Year. I don't think LNY and CNY are interchangeable. Maybe Supercell does.

That's why I was so disappointed in Supercell's cultural illiteracy about Chinese New Year versus Lunar New Year. A few days ago in Reddit, I was praising Supercell's cultural literacy for creating a skin named the Lunar Queen which looks like a rabbit to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Always! This was of course not a bad intention of anyone of our team members, i will make sure that something like this will not happen in the future. For example Songkran is commonly known as the "Thai Waterfestival" or "traditional Thai New Year festival" but like with Lunar and Chinese New Year it is celebrated in more regions like for example Laos , Myanmar Bangladesh, Cambodia etc. and even in some parts of India, Vietnam and Xishuangbanna. We are a global Community and no one should feel excluded if we celebrate a festival

Many countries and peoples celebrate the New Year according to the lunar calendar.
The time of celebration in countries and peoples is very different. For example, in 2023 - China, Korea, Vietnam celebrate from January 22, - Mongolia and Tibet from February 21, - Jewish New Year from September 15, - Muslims from June 18, - Thai, Cambodian and Sri Lankan New Year in April, - in Ugada and Gudi Padve (Din Plateau) on March 22.
And all this according to the lunar calendar.

We call it Chinese New Year here in Canada.
I guess our local Chinese businesses and restaurants didn’t get the memo yet because it's advertised as such like crazy by them. Which is fine with me.

We call it Chinese New Year here in Canada. I guess our local Chinese businesses and restaurants didn’t get the memo yet because it's advertised as such like crazy by them. Which is fine with me. When I was growing up, no one where I lived really paid any attention to this holiday. We celebrate Jan 1. That was about it, lol. For so many more people to observe this now—whatever name they learned to call it—is progress, to me. Of course the Chinese will call it Chinese New Year. From my perspective as someone who is not Asian, most of the customs I associate with this holiday are basically Chinese. *That I know of. I spent a number of years living in a west coast Canadian city with a large Asian population (predominantly Chinese). Red (everything red, lol), red envelopes, firecrackers, lion & dragon dances, lanterns, the animal zodiac (which I think I read somewhere actually originated in Japan?), jade, gold, mandarin oranges etc, etc. were almost everywhere. As hutt pointed out, I think there are so many variations on the lunar new year, I wouldn’t know where to start trying to sort out which of those traditions are celebrated specifically in China, from ones that are more widely adopted. The other Asian countries (as do non-Asian ones) likely have some unique traditions of their own that are just less well-known outside of those countries. So I’d say Happy New Year, Happy Chinese New Year, Happy Lunar New Year, happy whatever you call your own celebrations if something else. Best wishes for health, happiness & prosperity to everyone everywhere. May 2023 be better for all. And if your 2022 was already good, may your 2023 be even better still. But I don’t think that fits on the game screen anywhere. 😉😊💕

My dentist and my skin doctor who are both Singaporean / Malaysian call it Chinese New Year and usually travel back to Singapore or Malaysia for the celebrations.

Or the reason that is more to the truth is that it was an human error on our CM Teams end and i would like to apologize for that. This will be adjusted immediately. Thank you for pointing this out. ~Chris Thank you very much Chris for acting so promptly. I understand it is purely a human mistake as Hay Day has used Lunar New Year in the past years. Let's me clarify about the terms once last time for this thread, in case anyone feel they were using the wrong terms. It's all come down to what you really refer to. Amongst those who celebrate their traditional New Year festival in the upcoming days, I know of noone who would call it litterally "Lunar New Year". Each language has its own word for it, referring to lunar calendar is sometime mentioned to differ from the 1st january New Year (Gregorian calendar). The terms in english as you know it, is an approximate translation to explain to english speaking people in a way they could understand what it is about. It's very natural to put the country adjective in the same terms, when they refer to their own traditions and cultures. However, there are enough differences in the way Lunar New Year is celebrated in Vietnam or in Korea: food, clothes, traditions.... My friend was surprised to learn that this year zodiac's sign in Vietnam is a Cat, not a Rabbit. If you are not close to asian communities that celebrates such New Year, there is no way you would know about these subtle differences, and it's not your fault for not knowing. But you couldn't expect that an asian-looking person to celebrate the same way as people in a country they never set foot on. It just like assuming any asian looking person you see come from a specific country. So, if you use the terms to refer to a specific country because you didn't know about other countries celebrating their new year at the same time, it's okay, you didn't mean to ignore other countries. There is no english word for these celebration, unless people start using the words from those countries. "Lunar New Year" is nor perfect yet but neutral enough to be used nowadays. My first comment was for Supercell. Supercell situation is very different. They have office in Korea, they released the game in Vietnam, they have employees coming from these countries, they used "Lunar New Year" in the past. So clearly, at one point, they knew about the differences and they did not mean to refer to a specific country. And yet, the wording changed. That's what made me sad but not anymore . I appreciate you all taking the time to have this discussion and I know there are more and more articles (in english) on the internet stressing the differences that lies behind these terms, for further reading. Have a good day!

Can someone tell me what the fountain with the translucent rabbit that starts to glow and float away, represents? I’m sure it has meaning behind it.
