I’m not sure whether this has been a recurring problem for everyone, but I haven’t seen it reported before I don’t think, so I’m not sure whether this is a common glitch or not. For quite a while now I have experienced a glitch in my sanctuary where I replenish the animals’ food before I wake them ready for when they want to sleep again, but as soon as I wake them they eat the food immediately and go straight back to sleep. They are asleep before I wake them, not stumbling around waiting for food so I am not sure why they eat immediately when I wake them up. I hate to see hungry animals so I leave them asleep unless I am able to feed them (hence the dogs on my farm are permanently in cryo sleep as never enough bacon). It takes so long to make the animal food, so it’s a bit soul destroying to see it disappear to no avail in a matter of seconds. All of my land is open now so the only thing of interest really to me in the valley and derby is the puzzle pieces, but it all seems a bit of a waste of time when I can’t keep the animals awake for more than a few seconds anyway. I believe, but not entirely sure, that this happens more often when I have lots of wheat bundles or meat buckets ready and waiting, so I have to use them more quickly. Has anyone else experienced this?

It happens from time to time that one or two animals eat again as soon as I wake them up. But also, that I made a mistake, like waking them too early, when some cats and dogs didn’t finish running around. I never recognized a pattern.

No, I haven’t noticed a pattern either, other than I seem to think this happens more often if I have surplus wheat bundles and meat buckets. It definitely isn’t that they haven’t finished running around as I wake them so rarely they have always been asleep for days, possibly weeks, until that point. I do know what you mean about the farm animals as I wake them more often, but they still only eat once proportionately per sleep. My sanctuary animals consume far more than they should and provide far less entertainment than they should. No wonder the town folk leave such underwhelming rewards for viewing them!

I have noticed that bug sometimes when I feed my donkeys. They are asleep, bowls are empty...I fill the bowls, wake them up and they immediately eat again and go back to sleep....then I start all over again!!

I had this problem from the very first. This last update seemed to have fixed it, but didn’t last long. All this time I had NO problem with my farm animals. The other day I started having trouble with the farm animals and the sanctuary animals again. I did notice when I feed the sanctuary animals TWICE a day (morning and night), it didn’t happen. I have all my sanctuary animals open and having to feed them twice at one time, I really went through the feed. I load up the feed mills before I go to bed, so they can make while I sleep. The problem with the farm animals is the dogs, they take bacon. Cats - milk. Milk is always in need. The game knows when you are low and asked for it. It’s a real balancing act.😬🤦♀️

I just went to feed my animals in the sanctuary. I haven’t farmed today, so they weren’t feed this morning. Oh yes, totally messed up. Some took 6 feeds for 4 animals, some took 8 feeds. 😵💫😤

My farm animals did fine, I only had to feed them once. BTW, I do use Tom to get a stock pile of feed that requires the fish. I would like to know if they are working to fix this glitch.

I notice this when I don't feed sanctuary on time. Like if I feed them in the morning and skip till the next day they will scarf the feed and go back to sleep. Then feed again an immediately and they will be back on schedule for a morning and night feeding.
With the farm pets, I wake 3 by tapping , put the feed out then whistle to wake the others.

Oh, that’s interesting and useful to know. My sanctuary animals are never fed regularly, and if I’m honest they’re lucky to be fed five times a week! I’ve got all of the animals except for the walruses, and I don’t like choosing favourites, so if I can’t feed all of them I don’t wake any. I will try to be very organised and make more feed so that I can wake them more regularly and see if I notice a difference.

I fill up one of my feed machines with just sanctuary feed every night. The others I concentrate during the day. I try to keep 2 feedings in stock. Like 30 cow, sheep etc.
I used to try to keep much more but figured it was just taking up too much room. Lol

My sanctuary animals are very rarely fed; usually only if there is a good reason, like a Farm Pass task. I have Rose on hire constantly and messing about with her feed-making routine has consequences.
I occasionally manufacture some wheat bundles, if I have an excess of wheat for some reason. I can leave the bundles stacked on the machine until I need them. Rose is happy to work round them.
I leave my sanctuary animals awake at all times. Apart from the odd hungry glance in my direction it has little effect on game play. The rewards for feeding them really aren't worth the trouble imho.

I wheat a lot and one feeder is always producing wheatbundles. The drops I get from wheating are a lot, and the surplus on wheat I sell or I make bundles from. So indirect by feeding the sanctuary animals I get a lot of rewards.

I have something from all of it. My approach is similar to Cowslips, as I don't feel like being "forced" to block my feed mills for a long time for the hay stacks. I don't use the night for this purpose either. That's why my animals sleep mostly. Today I fed some (not all as I was lacking of hay stacks). Those which I fed are awake at once and don't go to sleep. On the other hand I also had the same experience after a longer sleep of my animals. When I fed them, they scarfed the hay stacks and went back to sleep. If I wanted them awake I had to spent more. This happens without a recognizable pattern. I have no explanation for this. Sometimes I produce the food for the sanctuary animals, but very rare and only if I'm in the mood or for a task from the farmpass. The approach from ducktown2021 is also a very good idea to get tools "indirectly". As for me I'm satisfied what I'm getting from my townies regularly. If I'm in need to speed this up I use the personal train. Sometimes I regret that the feeding from the sanctuary animals is that laborious and time consuming. I wish we had the opportunity to shorten the time. Their behaviour is really very nice, I like it very much.

I rarely feed my sanctuary animals. When I do feed them, they need eat twice the feed, like me being punished for missing a feeding🙄
Anyway, if you whistle them a few times without feeding them, they stay perpetually awake.
Not happy, but awake

I named my sanctuary animals either Rip, Van, or Winkle so I hardly wake them. ;-)

I have had this happen for a while. It happens with all my “pets” but more noticeable with sanctuary animals. I plant tomatoes when I feed farm pets, when the tomatoes are ready to harvest the pets are ready for their meal. I tend not to miss their meals. Sanctuary animals I don’t have a guide when they are hungry & it’s harder to keep up with making their feeds so they miss meals, then when I feed them they want seconds.

Perhaps a little bit offtopic but I wanted to tell you what happened on my farm today when I fed my horses, donkeys pets etc. Although no animal was running but staying at their stable I had to feed some twice. That happened with the horses, the Guinea pigs and some pets. My donkeys didn't show this behaviour, they are civilized. Funny, it's really a long time ago since that occured on my farm. Now I'm experiencing this behaviour when I hadn't counted on it and this thread was initialized . Weird..

Ok...it happened to me in the sanctuary for the first time today. I always wake up and feed the sanctuary animals once a day each morning...I filled all the feeders with the feed I made overnight, then woke them up...THEN they ALLLL ate again and went back to sleep!!!! Why the heck does this happen!!! Such a pain!

My question is, why don’t they acknowledge it and let us know something? Like sorry and we are working on it.🤦♀️

I do wish, if it’s not a glitch and there is a reason for it, they’d let us know for sure how it works so people can plan around it instead of being frustrated by it.

MommySnooks, do you remember the “OLD FORUM “, when there was a guy from SC that monitored it and answer our questions? I think his name was “NICK”. It was so great, he was so good and had tons of patience with us. I’m sure when he left, a long vacation was needed.

MommySnooks, do you remember the “OLD FORUM “, when there was a guy from SC that monitored it and answer our questions? I think his name was “NICK”. It was so great, he was so good and had tons of patience with us. I’m sure when he left, a long vacation was needed. Indeed, I'm glad the legend of Nick is still alive in our collective memory. IIRC, he has the reputation of being active in the now defunct Supercell forums before, during, and after an update. IMO, he sets the gold standard with which I compare all Community Managers, including Supercell and non-Supercell games. I'd like to share two stories about Nick. A poster playing another Supercell game visited the Hay Day subforum and pleaded with Nick to download the other SC game and "help them out" because the CM was unresponsive. Nick replied that he has played the other game but not often as HD and his counterpart is doing "a great job". I wasn't playing the other game so I have no opinion about its CM until I read the subforum and discovered the community had an adversarial relationship with the CM. Yikes! At one point, a member posted a toxic poll about the CM and the choices were also toxic, IMO. I was so happy this never happened in the HD subforum. The other story is when a major bug occurred a day before the holidays. I was bracing myself for weeks of delay because taking scheduled time off is important for Finns' work-life balance. Then Nick replied with something like "We will not travel". I was stunned because his statement meant to me that the problem is so serious Team Hay Day must delay their holidays and come to the office and fix the bug. Remember this was prior to the pandemic when game development wasn't done remotely, AFAIK. BTW, for those who don't know yet, Nick has departed Supercell recently and we discussed it here. justhayday.boards.net/thread/1514/community-manager-nick-left-supercell
