Dear farmer,
there was a time when I participated in the Blossom Derby, but this is gone meanwhile.
The reason is, that it's supposed to play with minimum 2 players to gain more points, otherwise it's not so interesting in my opionion. Furthermore this derby has a habit which is annoying.
Often I have to wait very long for a task whicht suits me. Otherwise I'm busy by deleting very very other tasks, because they didn't reach 320 points. The chance to get a task with 320 points and which is NOT a blossom task is as good as impossible. I remember that in the past I was only deleting, nothing else. That's frustrating and so I wanted to ask you whether you have a better tactic to deal with this special derby?
Thanks for your ideas!

Hi donkeyfan, I don’t do the blossom derby, I’m a solo player. I dont play the regular one either, find that boring

Blossom is rather easy, even if you play solo. And placing top3 is not that hard.
I start clearing the board, with 10sec interval. After 30 minutes your board refreshes with a task every 10 sec. It’s always a blossom task. If you don’t like it you clear that task and 10 sec later you have a new blossom task. You can repeat that all the time.
I take town, mine, helps and easy (fast growing) crops. Basically you have a task every 30 min.
Only downside of above tactic is that you have to be online when the 1st task starts to refresh, otherwise you have to start all over.

I’ve never understood how a blossom derby would work for a solo player, so I’m not surprised to hear it doesn’t! For our hood with a decent group number playing, it’s okay, though not one of my favorite derbies. I find I trash a lot of tasks looking for 320s, which seem harder to come by, at least initially. And then I have to wait for what feels like forever, to take one of the good ones when they come up. Then there is the fact that not all hoodies can do all tasks in a hood like ours where we are quite diverse in our farm levels. I’m always tempted to opt out of blossom derbies.

Thanks for the info ducktown2021, I may give it a go Important note is that you don.t clear your board all at once. If you do that, you will only have one blossom task after 30 min. If you use intervals between trashing tasks you have a lot more changes on a good blossom task. And you know when you have to start again with this tactic if you are doing crops. Don’t forget to trash the blossom task once completed, otherwise you won’t get new blossom tasks.

Also works for hoods, but you need some good coordination irt who trashes the tasks etc.

No, if you play solo the blossom task is 320 points. The task is there again with 350 points but you can’t do that if you are playing solo. But you have to trash the 350 task.
At the board you can see when the new task will be there. Sometimes I use 5 sec intervals. But that is the minimum.

Very good explanation of “staggered” trashing, ducktown.
Anybody playing solo or in a small hood where you may only have 1 or 2 blossom tasks at a time, this is the best way to approach a Blossom Derby.
I would suggest that you set a timer for a minute or 2 before the earliest task will refresh, as you may have to locate it on the derby board. It will not always be the top left task. It also helps if 1 person is in charge of trashing the board so that you don’t stumble over each other and trash something you would rather have kept.
Good luck everyone. If you are trying this method for the first time, please share what you think.

I keep trashing until I have a board I can prep and complete quickly so I never start before Weds/Thurs and it usually works but don’t know if it will work with blossom

I know which one refreshes 1st, the next one is wright next to it.

WOW, I'm impressed. I knew (!) that there are farmers who know how to deal with this special derby. ducktown2021You are a great help, really, really. The best explanation I ever read, thank you so much. I'll translate it to my sister-in-law, luckily she accepted to join me. To do this derby alone was not in my interest. I will report how we got on with the derby. I'm very glad to have asked for help. THX, donkeyfan

You’re welcome. Keep in mind that if you play with more persons that you don’t trash the blossom task when the first person finishes it. The second person (your sister in law) needs to take the same task, but now for 350 points.

I'll use them and would share them with my hoodmates, but we're so chillaxed that we don't coordinate and communicate during derbies. ;-) ==Lynn==

Hi ducktown2021, I spoke with my sister-in-law and told her, that we have an expert at JHD. She was excited and happy that I'm the one who takes care for the tasks. She has less time due to home-office. But occasionally she is able to look and to continue the task I had begun and finished. Like I wrote, I'll share our experiences. THX again, donkeyfan

Funny, I thought this was common amongst all hoods.

I haven’t done a blossom derby for a long time as our nh does not like them and we usually have a break.

You will get a blossom task, and once you complete it the task will return to the derby board for 350 points. However, players can only do the task one time , so it will have to be deleted. Also playing the blossom derby alone, there's no point at waiting for a blossom task, because like I stated earlier, you can only do the tasks once. So it's better to just concentrate on getting the tasks you like. Just like a normal derby.

Thank you RescueSquad, it looks as though there may be two of us in if we decide to go ahead. The valley prizes are not great which is why I have been thinking of participating. Also I will have more time than usual this week. With two of us there will only be one blossom task at a time though I think 🤔

Also I will have more time than usual this week. With two of us there will only be one blossom task at a time though I think 🤔 Yes, only 1 blossom task on the board with 2 active members. If you're planning on doing only blossom tasks, it's important to remember..after the task is done by the first member the second member gets it for 350. While that member is doing the blossom task you won't be able to receive a new one on the board until the second member finishes it, and once that happens the task will need to be trashed (it will be worth 375) from the board. If you're trying to get in the top 3, the best way to do that is by taking only blossom tasks and making sure someone is available to delete tasks with those 10 or 15 second intervals once you've completed the 350 point task. And continue trashing every 30 min until you get the task you like. Good luck.

Only 320 tasks, but the normal 320 tasks don’t drop that often in the beginning of a derby. So going with staggered trashing is your way to go, unless you have enough time throughout the week. if you happen to be in a derby with people also doing the staggered trashing then that tactic would be my preferred option. After 3 tasks you can already see who is using that tactic en who is not familiar with it.

RescueSquad15. (RS 15)🪓 Actually "Blossom Derby" should be common but I lack the experience and my sister-in-law, too. We rarely played it and besides always wrong. So this resulted in frustration. But we decided yesterday to give it a new try. With the helpful tips of ducktown2021 it should be successful this time.

Hi ducktown2021 , I have a question. First I started like you recommended deleting tasks in intervals. I started at the bottom right, and then I took the next one on the left side and so on. Like a snake. In the middle of my action I found a blossom task I liked, so I have left it. When I was ready, all tasks were deleted except the blossom task I chosed. After 30 minutes I got the next series but no one was a blossom task, and every task was less then 320 points. Is that normal? Did I miss something?
Additional to this:
I deleted the one blossom task I'd chosen and waited for more better tasks. But after 30 Minutes I got also only 1 (!) blossom task, the other tasks were less than 320 points. Did I make a mistake? (Only myself and my sister-in-law is acutally in derby)
THX for help again!
