What has been your worst mystery task so far? Mine has been 22 grilled onions which is not too bad considering that one hoodie had two bacon tasks in a row.

So far this derby Ive had a picnic task (apple juice, feta pie and carrot cake) and now I have a 17 honey toast taks.
My worst ever mystery derby experience ever was getting 5 fishing tasks of which 4 consecutive. Very tough on the lures situation.

My worst Mystery Derby task this time has been a Chilly Task (7 pumpkin pies, 11 hot chocolate, 7 sweaters) followed immediately by collect 61 bacon!
Kat, I remember your post in the old forum about your 5 fishing tasks. I was exhausted for you then, and in my book holds the record for all time worst Mystery Derby.

Haha Momscar, yes its been a long time ago already since that fishing misery derby. I believe it was one of the very first mystery derbies in de game. In any case it was before we could use the NH request system to request lures. That would have eased the stress a bit if I could at least request 3 lures a few times a day. The first few fishing tasks I had lures for and could still keep up making them but the last 2 were problematic waiting on lures to produce.

Hello, I normally don’t do the mystery derby. It stresses me out, but I ventured out this week and it wasn’t that bad. I do “ineey, meeny, miney, mo.” And go for it, lol. I did get two boats but avoided the town task, whew. Lol

I got one I had to trash because I couldn’t make the thing and basically said “Well, that’s enough of that. Where are the 320s?” Lol.
Meanwhile hoodmate got a couple I could have done, and would probably have been good to share. I think she got something like four town tasks?
But…so goes the mystery. Unless we can start resetting multiple tasks I won’t likely be doing this one for a while again, lol.

*Is there such a thing as a 320 mining task in this derby? I’ve seen 306, 8, 10 I think, and have a 316 on the board but…. but… but,,,,

We did too, somehow. Being in a lower league was a bit more forgiving.
Still needed diamonds for extra tasks to replace ones I had to trash, to do so. (Valley season, be good this time!)
Another wish…stop demoting hoods for taking a break. Let people pause and come back at the skill level they left off with. Does anyone know *why they do that? (Aside from “it’s always been that way”?) Perhaps fewer hoods would derby as regularly, but then I must ask…so what? How would that affect the game, aside from perhaps keeping people from feeling “burned out”? (Honest question.)

Without diverting the thread, I wanted to give you my thoughts on demoting hoods for taking a break. This is only my opinion, and remember that I am in a hood that rarely has more than 3 players and for years had only 2 active members. That said I have played many derbys solo and been left feeling burned out as well. After many requests, SC did eventually give players the choice of opting out of a derby and then the ability of the NH Leader to opt out certain players. Larger NH’s would carry on as usual with one less player. The absence of 1 player is not a detriment to the rest of the NH that is playing. Obviously, if your NH consists of only 1 player and you opt out, you will be demoted. In every derby match up, no matter the # of players per NH, there will always (with few exception) be 3 NHs demoted. If my math is correct, 20% of all NHs playing in any given week are demoted. So, my question would be - how fair is it to those NHs that actually played and got demoted if other NHs chose to opt out were able to stay in their current league? If you look at the big picture, by being demoted, you are only ‘losing’ 1 horseshoe column prize. You are experienced enough to know how to play in a higher league and may be more likely to be promoted the next derby you do play. Think of it as a way to ease yourself back into derby life without too much stress.

I…kind of want to discuss this for a post or two—you sparked some thoughts I’d like to respond to and maybe get opinions on, if people want to add their perspectives. While the topic was spawned by mystery derby grumbles, you’re right it’s getting a bit off from yucky mystery derby tasks, lol. Is there a better thread for it, or should I perhaps start one for it?

I’d say start a new one. It will make it easier to stay on topic then. 😉

I don't mind fishing tasks. I had four this time, and would have been happy to get more. I always have a stash of lures. (Use the worms. You can tell with worms if you have a sockeye salmon on the hook. They are the biggest fish you can get with a worm. It's a crapshoot with the other lures. Unless there's a fishing event going on.)
My worst task this time was 9 baked potatoes, 8 green smoothies, and 12 bacon and eggs. Having both baked potatoes and bacon and eggs made on the same machine was a right pain.
