Dear farmer!
I wonder how you manage your barn and your silo in a way which suits you best?
I don't want to know the size of your barn and silo, I'm more interested how you're dealing with them in general.
Take me as an example:
As you know, I'm not a fan from boat orders and truck delivery neither. The only place on my farm which I support constantly is my town. So my concern is only to have plenty of products for my townies always available.
In this regard I have calculated for myself how many products I have to order for every machine. One advantage is that both barn and my silo are never filled to capacity. I find this very comfortable. Only exception is when the event occurs with every crop = tripled or when I'm dealing with 2 or 3 crop tasks in a derby. But normally I have no problems, plenty of space always.
But of course there is also a disadvantage, no question. Due to the way I have described I always have to track my machines in a timely manner. But I got used for it for a long time. If I forget something I have a lack of the one or other product, that's clear. But this is going to happen very rarely.
Usually the degree of capacity utilisation from my barn is fluctuating between 76 and 82% and from my silo between 86 and 96%.
Have you similar experiences? Or do you have often problems with a barn and a silo that is too small?

I don’t have to worry about barn/silo space, I have my baby farms barn/silo for extra capacity when needed. The only time when I run out of space is when I have to swap things around but am limited to do so because of the daily 89 expansion items, and goods I have adds up for trade. But hardly any issues.

That's another point I forgot to mention. I also have a babyfarm but I didn't expand barn and silo according to the level. In that way it occours that I have often to shift from my babyfarm to my main farm in order of less capacity from my babyfarm.
But I know that and it doesn't matter. Silo and barn from my main farm are always enough.

For barn, I check the products quantity. If anything is less than 5, I make it.
For silo, I try to keep everything over 100 for harvests, and over 30 for fruits.
Yes, I play town mostly, no boat and truck also.

I keep about 30 of each item in my barn, with the exception of commonly used items, sugar, milk, eggs. I keep more. If I have Ernest or Rose, I keep none, and let them hold those items.
My silo is never full. I keep bout 75 of each at any given time, and I sell lots and lots of fruits and veggies at my RSS. I will harvest my trees and bushes until they're ready for watering, saving that for derby or farm pass tasks.

I only do trucks when it has a very high pay off, and boats during derby tasks, puzzle pieces or some other really good event/pay off (like special deco)
I quite often scold myself on the barn/silo full pop ups.... and ask myself why do I think I need so many tomatoes, milk, eggs, ice cream, juice etc- whatever happens to be the highest count. For example this morning I realized I had 106 chicken feed! Now what person would think they needed that much? 🙄
On the other hand, starting around Sunday night I TRY to keep the barn maxed out to be able to stack several items for the upcoming derby.... then try and even things out with roadside shop sales and helping neighbors, friends and do helps.

I like to keep 10 of most items, but 60 each of bread and popcorn, at least 60 of each sugar, cream and butter.
I keep around 100 of each crop. But I don’t store bush and tree fruits in the silo. I keep them on the trees/bushes and harvest as I need them.
I have never made friends with the Barn Is Full pop up. When I get it, I just sell all of my TEM. I try to keep even numbers of BEM and SEM. My farm gets more duct tape and wood panels than anything else, so I sell excess of those 2 items ( or give them to hoodies or other farm friends).
Only time my silo gets full is during the 3 items instead of 2 events. During those events, lately, I just try to remember to plant less than normal of whatever is being multiplied.

I twice maxed the barn at 10K and 12K but on each occasion supercell almost immediately increased it. When I was at 14,900 and not far off the 15K max they increased it out of sight to 25K! - I have no intention of chasing that target. |

Barns and silos are meant to be full is my philosophy. If I am not running into a “barn full” pop up once a day then I must not be making enough or finding enough in friends’ RSS is my motto. Conversely if it is constantly full and impeding playing then I will just spend a little more time than usual helping as many as I can find flagged in the Daily Dirt. Seriously though I do keep my barn very full. I like to be able to not have to worry about whatever I get in a boat or request in the town, or whatever one of my friends flags for help on. I have varying scales of what I keep in the way of minimums. The lowest is 25ish, majority is in the 36-75 range of each and some are 100 (juices, sugars, popcorns, bread, fish, etc). Items I do have a lot more of are bacon, milk, eggs, mining tools. There’s been no real effort on my part to research what gets used or asked for but has just been habit developed over the years of playing and developing a feel for what seems to be adequate to not have to worry about leaving myself short. I work in a similar manner to you. It can be annoying at times but ah the bliss when you upgrade🤣. I only collect one lot of expansion materials at a time so alternate barn, silo and land. My husband and I help each other out and take turns at upgrading. Managing the barn and silo tends to have just developed as I did not do research. |

I have hundreds of blankets and shiny things (rings, necklaces) but almost nothing which requires fishing. And then there is Rosa and.... what's his name? Bob? I am thinking instead of working, they are napping and just get moving when I am around. I never have cheeses, milk and bacon. But it is probably just my mismanagement of the machines. Anyways, it is interesting to read how you all do it. I will try and be better and ... hire Tom more often |
