It has always been 8 at Halloween as far as I remember. Checked last year, 8 as well. The extra day was for players to claim the unlocked ones (usually 3 x 24h).
I'm interpreting that pumpkin stays on Greg's Farm until 25th 8UTC if unclaimed. Will disappear afterwards.

I spent days hunting for 🎃 #5. Finally found it just now. Under the wisteria tree in the aviary.
