Family Friendly option

Hi, We are currently not a family friendly neighbourhood but to enable my friends 12 year old daughter to join us we would have to tick this function, I have tried to research this but there is very limited information except that by turning on this function it would sensor chat, I’m assuming this just means age appropriate words only? I believe once this function has been turned on it cannot be turned off? Would anyone be able to tell me if by turning on this function how it affects the game⅔? Or is it just the chat that is sensored. Thank you
