It has bothered me for a while that it takes so much fish to feed the sanctuary carnivores. And today it was worse than usual. It took 22 buckets of fish! Am I right that this is 66 fish?!
That’s because I got the glitch were you feed them all, wake them from sleep, and they all go back to sleep immediately with the food disappeared. Pain in the neck glitch that has been going on for - years?
Even an ordinary day of feeding the carnivores takes, it would seem, at level 232 and all animals except the two meerkat pups, would take 11 buckets, or 33 fish. Who can make fish and chips at that rate? 😂
Does anyone else find this a bit weird and unpleasant? Or do you all just leave the sanctuary animals asleep?

4 Wolves 4 Cheetahs 4 Walrus 4 Meerkats
16 safari animals wanting fish buckets and 14 fishing spots
And SO many other products also wanting fish
I wholeheartedly agree that the whole safari animal system is out of balance!

blackbrit & BauldersGateTo answer your question...my animals are sleeping, almost always. I rarely wake them. Regarding what BauldersGate statet, yes, I agree too. That's the reason that I am way behind having all possible animals. I don't feel like collecting them, it's a never ending story.

I use a 24 hour booster for Tom. I stock up on the meat buckets. I load my feed mills with hay stacks before I go to bed. If I feed them in the morning and before I go to bed there isn’t a problem. Let me skip a feeding, and all heck breaks out. Some of them wake up fine and some go BACK TO SLEEP AND REQUIRE MORE FOOD. Some stations require 1, 2, 3 more feeding. So instead of 4, some take 5, 6, 7, or 8. Now that is infuriating to me. This has been happening for a long time. Now for the birds, I just feed them carrots. It shows the other produce but I just feed them carrots and it works. I figured this was a glitch along with the animals in the sanctuary. I hadn’t seen anything on here about it, so I figured I’d wait it out until they fixed it with an update. Thank you for posting it. I’m glad to know I’m not alone.

I produce some meat buckets occasionally when I have extra fish. (In times when I have done a lot of valley fishing and or event fishing etc). I do the same with wheat bundles.
My sanctuary animals are mostly asleep. I feed them when I have too many bundles and buckets or I feed a few when I have a farm pass task to feed them.
Straying a little from the topic.. in much the same way I hardly ever bother to feed my dogs and cats it just takes too much milk and bacon and the bacon and milk I can get from playing I really need to spend on other stuff. I do feed all the carrot animals as it’s easy enough to grow a bunch.

Mine sleep unless I need to feed them for a farm pass task or I accidentally 🤔 wake one. If I am feeding for a farm pass task I usually wake the ones that eat wheat. my digs and cats mostly sleep. If I have excess bacon I will wake the dogs up. I do feed all the other animals.

I agree it takes WAY too much time and materials to feed the sanctuary animals, so a while back I stopped trying to get puzzle pieces. I make feed overnight and wake all the animals up each morning but then leave them when they fall asleep until the next morning. I stopped collecting puzzle pieces when I had 24 wheat eaters and 3 meat eaters. That works out to filling one entire feed mill with 8 wheat bundles and 1 bucket over night. That allows for my second feed mill to remain open for other things.

I have all the sanctuary animals except the baby meerkat. I also find that if I feed in the morning and before bed I avoid that whole wake/feed/eat/immediate repeat thing. I send Tom for meat buckets daily (I keep him hired) and put on wheat bundles in all slots over night on both machines.

Currently working on the baby meerkats. I choose puzzels in derby prizes, make an effort to do puzzle boats, choose puzzles in the valley etc. Somehow I just like collecting them. For me they’re smaller goals which are realistic and not years in the future, like collecting all the permits or never ending barn and silo upgrades. I guess I’m weird that way

I don't have any carnivores yet. I just got a gorilla and I thought it would consume meat.

Well, inspired by you all, I am no longer feeding my sanctuary animals every day - or twice a day as I usually did. I do like collecting the points they give, but it’s not really worth it given the impact on fish resources and the feed mills. I doubt this it what SC would call “inspiration” but to me, in the broader scheme of things to keep the game sane, it sure is!

Decided to feed all the sanctuary animals today as I had enough hay bundles and fish buckets. They were, of course, all sleeping, having eaten what I left them with some days ago.
I begin to feed them a few minutes ago, and by the time I was done, they had all eaten the food I just gave them, and gone back to sleep! I started to feed them a second time to see if they might stay awake, but I stopped myself. I’m not going to feed them all that fish - and the hay bundles - a second time in less than five minutes.
Am I missing something? This seems like a glitch, but who knows. Maybe it’s just the Hay Day black hole for hay and fish! 😂

blackbrit What you described sounds familiar. I remember a posting or a thread.....I think it was shepherdgirl or BostonGirl....who noticed exactly the same behavior. The only thing I don't know is whether they referred to the farm animals (dogs, cats etc) or the sanctuary animals. Both have the same glitch. If some time past since you fed them they take the food instantly and go to sleep again. This is very annoying especially because you need basics like milk and bacon very often, better said always. The same can happen with the animals which require carrots, but that's manageable. Milk and bacon is another thing. Not to mention fish and haystacks. Fish is in high demand for many products and haystacks are lasting forever until they are ready. To fullfill the needs of the sanctuary animals regularly you have to make sure that one of your 2 feed mills is working a whole night to produce the hay stacks. That is ridiculous and not comprehensible. I am also not willing to do this, due to this those animals are sleeping the most time. I only wake them if I happen to have plenty of bacon and milk and if I am in the mood to produce haystack. Mostly this isn't the case. Logical conclusion....sleeping animals. 😉

That glitch has been there for years. Maybe it’s a feature now. Or just hay days charming way of playing with us.

So right and cute Kanta! If you favor the sanctuary, play it... I never was in a hurry to expand. With all this valuable info, I almost don't want to. Not sure how the animals are with boundaries if I design the area. That would make a difference For now my wildlife will roam....
