Very helpful donkeyfan!! I love all your recommendations and tips I did not know. A big help! 🌟
Now may be a good time for me to start a baby farm.
I was looking on JHD for instructions. No luck. Can anyone advise me where to find directions?
Clueless 😔 ...but willing to learn : ) ~S Thank you

sapphire You're welcome. Please note...don't stress yourself with upgrading the town. Do it slowly, but constantly. No need for a rush. You determine your own pace, it should suit you, that's most important. Take a look in town if you feel doing so. Perhaps 2 times a day, this is sufficient in my opinion. Check then which townie is served and take the coins and the points. My approach is similar, I do this mostly 2 or 3 times a day. At first I am looking in the town-hall which townie is ready, and I proceed with every townie on this occasion. The next step would be to send those townies who want to be served in 2 shops in the next one. Fullfill their wishes, exception the wish is too greedy. If you finished this I recommend to replenish the machines. Over time you will have a feeling how much you need from every product to manage. 🙂 Try to maintain this schedule. It's not time consuming and effective.

donkeyfan Thanks for your many tips. Most of the tips are the same I did in my town while I tried to expand. But it didn't permanently work for me. You mentioned, that you would recommend to expand as soon as possible. Do you have a explanation why it is harder to expand the town in higher level? I ignored the town when it appeared in the game (something over level 30) and I think it was the right decision. In this low level it would have been to difficult to do all the important things (get enough coins for next level, expand the fishing area, expand town, and have enough space in barn for products and expanding tools.) I started the town in a level something like you. The first expansion was ok. But focussing to much on the town I got into difficulties. It was hard to get enough coins for the next level while playing the town. And the expanding tools are expensive, too. I think this should be easier on higher level. Why do you think in higher level it will be more labourious? I haven't expanded the XP until now, but even without that I have trouble to get enough coins with the town in the same time I get the XP from it. It is a very big problem (in my experience.) For this I upgraded in another sequence than yours: First the places, of course Than the time for long lasting buildings. And then....I gave up. A second question: What is the reason for your sequence of servering townies? I do it in the opposite direction, because the townies in grocery are often very greedy. And so I can send them away in the first building if I don't want to serve them.

》》I use my baby farms for
-A few barn/silo expansion bits (when my big farm is close to expanding and I'm impatient)
-Increased bread/cream production when a boat is coming or I need them
-Fruit providers in a pinch (Very useful during egg event that had cherry as 1 ingredient)
-Collecting townies who only want to visit 1 place (I put effort into getting them to town openening level, and have since relaxed somewhat)
-Requesting neighbourhood items (usually crops) to work towards the damn trading rosette 😆
》》I pass my baby farms
-Money for machines (By selling bundle of items at 1 gold and then buying those same items back at full price)
-land Expansion materials (Because there's always an excess whilst I'm waiting for permits!)
》》I make sure I
-log in to each daily to spin wheel/collect movie rewards (I confess I did the previous 99p 'taster' offer on both baby farms to avoid adverts when collecting tickets 😆)
-Do the pass road (Usually in last week so that the point rewards are bigger and I need to do less tasks)
-Do at least a few tasks in valley to gain at least the first few road rewards (And at least a few of the token rewards in a safari animal when animals are plentiful)
-Check Gregs farm for daily box, research sales and present events (I usually collect presents daily on big farm but I wait till last day of a present event for baby farms and then collect all in one go)
》》I don't
-Play them in the derby
-Worry about puzzles with them
-Participate with them in world events
-Advertise any items for sale in their rss's instead I buy it all and if I need to sell it in my big farms shop (In an effort to minimise outside traffic finding them)

I did not know how to start a new farm with it hooked up to my Farm. I would like a Baby Farm for its freshness. It doesn't have to grow up. I want to find a good level to be helpful sometimes. It can be happy in nature. Maybe earning tapes and nails for me to increase my barn and silo. A happy place😊

squirrel I try to answer all your questions. My recommendation regarding the town is based on own experience. Tbh, I also started too late because the town was way earlier available. But at least not too late. The main argument against town upgrading if you are in a high level is in my opinion that you will be really struggling with some tools, especially those you need for barn and silo upgrade. This are the same tools which are needed for some shops in town. If you are in a higher level, let's say beyond 100, you need way more from those tools for silo and barn upgrade. This will conflict the shop upgrade in town because they require the same tools. Giving this circumstances you will always tend to upgrade your barn and silo first, you have no spare tools for the town. Of course you can argue against that upgrading in a lower level is also difficult as the space in barn is limited. But I think this is a mind thing. Knowing you don't need as much tools for barn upgrade in lower level than in a higher one you will rather decide to support the town than vice versa. Be aware, town upgrade is in general not easy, it's in every level a grinding. But if you begin early, and do it slowly, but constantly it's way easier to manage. Next thing is....DON'T focus too much on town. I didn't said that in my previous posting. The town is ONE part in the game and should be treated as such. If you are going to focus and to force town upgrade you will fail. This is a way you won't go. Avoid this. Keep town upgrade always in mind, but don't overdo it. (Please don't misunderstood me, I will only help!) Meaning is to integrate the town in the daily routine, and that's it. If you have enough tools to expand, do it. The tools shouldn't be a prob. I'd be lucky to support you. Just write a PM and give me your SC ID so that we can become friends. I have always town tools to spare. You don't have to buy them. Only exception if you have the coins. But that's not the case in the present, if I understand you correctly. I also wrote that the last thing I'd expand would be the coins. There are other ways to gain them, e. g. events with double coins, or selling products via RSS. Coins shouldn't be prioritized in the town in the beginning. Later, when the town is ready, you will gain via gift shop for some products more coins than via RSS, e. g. jewelry. I also wrote that. Serving the townies in the described way has no special reason. I found it suitable for myself and kept it that way. I do every day the same routine, max 2-3 a day, and that's it. Of course you can serve your townies vice versa, how it is most comfortable for you. I also wrote, there is no "BEST" way to upgrade the town, it's MY way, and it turned out that it was the right and best way for me. There is no reason why you should do it the same way. BTW, my guidance is what it is, only a guidance. "Many roads lead to Rome".
Due to this you can take one advice or another, but finally you have to found your own way and your own pace.
Last but not least I want to add....it's normal that many players give up, and I don't blame them. Town is one of the most difficult and slowest places to deal with, so it's no surprise.
Perhaps you overthink it and give it some time. Later you can still decide whether you do the town or not, there is no necessity.
I can only say, without the town I wouldn't be there where I am currently. And without the town it wouldn't be possible to unlock new lots (those without permits some time ago) that fast. Same applies for tools for barn and silo, upgrade is never a problem, I have always enough space, no need for a rush. I am also never in need for saws, axes, mine tools or whatsoever. I have more than I can use, always.
The town is helpful as well when I am lacking coins. Of course it takes some time, but sometimes I am wondering how fast I can replenish spended coins. There are so many issues when the town comes in.
Currently I don't play the town like I did this in earlier times because I decreased my time for farming. I also don't force things because my play-style is relaxing and I want to enjoy it. The times when I had to haunt some things are gone for good. This is very comforting, I won't change it.
Keep this in mind, too. You won't gain all advantages of the town in the beginning, or in the middle. The full prosperity will occur after finishing, in every respect. There is a decision to make, either you "love" the town, or you don't. If not, it's ok, too. My intention was only to make some suggestions how to deal with it, and of course to name the shortcomings with which you have to deal for a long time.

Thank you so much for your long and detailed response. So much appreciated!
I only loged in for a short break and read it quickly. Will come back in a few days when I have more time.

squirrel You are welcome. The town is a still a major concern of mine. Due to this I try to elate you in it. 😉 I think the best thing to "deal" with the town would be not to think too much about it. If you want to incur it try to find a pace that suits you. Integrate the town in a daily routine. Look for tools and buy them if you can afford it. If not, let me know what you need and I help as much as I can. On the other hand...it's absolutely ok for me if you decide to skip the town. No worries. It's always an individual decision. Aside from this...perhaps there are some more members except of sapphire who can take some help and advice from my postings. I would be very pleased about it. 🙂👍

Question about a baby farm: If I have a baby farm. They are both on the same device. How can I pass products back and forth? Do I have to toggle and hope other farmers aren't quick at buying it first? ...is there a way to be on each farm, two separate devices? I am thinking you could only be on one farm through SC

Do I have to toggle and hope other farmers aren't quick at buying it first? ...is there a way to be on each farm, two separate devices? I am thinking you could only be on one farm through SC Here’s what I do.. I have1 baby farm beside my main and each of my farms are attached to its own SCID I generally switch back and forth real quick between both farms, it’s just a few clicks to switch. But yea there’s a chance someone might beat you to it. Both my farms are in the same neighborhood so sometimes I choose the request option to pass goods if I just have to move a particular item. and with being in the same hood I quickly scroll to the shop of my other farm by accessing the tab which lists my neighbors only instead of all my friends. When I’m moving a lot of product I sometimes have one of the farms open on my phone and the other on my tablet. That way you can be super quick. Because each farm has its own SCID this is an easy thing to do. That being said there are a few things I make sure of when I’m moving high risk items which I don’t want to lose. 1. there’s no active advertisement in the newspaper on the farm doing the selling. 2. I do not have anything flagged for help on the selling farm either. 3. I try to keep my followers and friends as low as I can on my baby farm, so I’m less likely to lose stuff moving from baby to main farm. 4. I make sure that I didn’t just helped a lot of strangers. Some people avoid helping strangers completely because of the last helper tab but I don’t go to that extreme. I sometimes think people are more likely to look there if they just received help (not that I have proof of this, just something I suspect) I haven’t lost an item yet I wanted to move between farms.

Fascinating question, sapphire. IIRC, I created a baby farm on a Samsung tablet (running Android 4) which I retired a few years due to malfunctioning battery. Back then I used a stop watch and it took me about 6 seconds to toggle between the two farms attached to Supercell ID.
Now I'm using a Samsung tablet running Android 9 and conducted the following experiment with the same stop watch. On my main farm, I sold some soy beans unadvertised in my shop, start the stop watch, tap the button with 3 lines, tap Settings button, tap the 2 circling arrows button to activate Supercell ID, tap name of baby farm, tap followers tab, tap name of main farm, swipe right to the shop and bought the soy beans.
Then I stop the stop watch which shows a shocking 27.34 seconds! I'm glad I did this experiment because I thought erroneously transferring goods took about 10 seconds. Apparently, I must train myself to improve my time to 15 seconds or less. ;-)

Haha lynnk2022 love your numerous post. I can just picture it. The common denominator there is the stop watch so it must be malfunctioning. I’m sure I can easily beat that time. Sapphire, I hope my tips are helpful and I’m sure there must be a few things I missed as well but these things help me. You don’t really have to join a neighborhood but you could also consider creating one and sit in there with your baby farm and keep it closed for others. That way you can enjoy some of the neighborhood benefits like the request system etc.

I’m sure I can easily beat that time. ;) First of all, thank you kat for the kind words. Secondly, I should clarify the stopwatch is one of the functions of my Casio digital watch given to me in the early 1990's. It still keeps accurate time, but the technology is over 30 years old, so it's possible there's a malfunction. I repeated the previous experiment but used the Clock App included with Windoze 10. My time is 20.34 seconds which is 7.34 seconds faster from yesterday! And finally, I started the wrist watch's stop watch function and Windoze's Clock App at the same time and stopped them at the same time at around 20 seconds. Stop watch shows 20.25 seconds while Windoze shows 20.20 seconds, a difference of 0.05 seconds.

I find that when I play town at 100%, (that is picking up passengers too), I always run low on dairy goods when I replenish products consumed by townies. I usually try to maintain about 50 of each dairy products but will get down to low 20's when I do town at 100%.
