Since the past few days, indigos have become rare. I never planted them, I usually find them on the DD. Lately however, they have become somewhat rare. The 20 I did find I planted over and over.
Same with strawberries. I see the gift wrapping station needs one indigo but that can't be it.

I think it can. I seem to be making a lot of it as well as all the other items needed. Milk, purple dresses and so on. There is a imbalance at present but it may correct itself.

Today I planted all my indigo and forgot to leave some spare in case the next boat wanted blue gift boxes... which of course it did. So I jumped into the DD and found an ad for indigo. As I got to that farmer's RSS I saw the indigo turn to "Sold", but then more appeared. It turned into a real frenzy, with indigo selling as soon as it appeared then more appearing for sale, and I just kept tapping all the RSS boxes as fast as I could and got myself plenty of indigo.

Yes, the gift wrapping station is the main reason. That’s why I grow the long time crops during night. Same with producing long gifts.
I already started making all other products day before the station came out, was good thing that there was a Twitter message four days prior to release showing what was needed. Now it’s easy to keep up with the demand. Baby farms support to max extent now.

However it isn’t just the indigo that goes in the wrapping station. the game as a whole has quite a delicate balance and such things can disrupt the balance or I should say change things which we consider to be the normal flow. Many more people are filling boats and many more boats get filled due to the event. Boats need product which use crops, some crates ask for crops. So farms are producing and growing more. Then there’s the valley and fuel when you sometimes need to grow a certain crop for fuel. this is a balancing act for the crops fields and people find it harder to keep up and don’t have as much extra for selling and whatever does get sold is bought immediately

katYou summed it up perfectly. Normally I have no trouble to keep a special balance between farm, valley, town etc. But the current event is different. It requires a lot of time, for comfort spending diamonds (for more slots for the new machine) and the ability to keep all that in a balance without struggling. I think it's not easy to handle. As for me I appreciate the opportunity getting so many permits in a short time, but of course you won't get them without effort. Unfortunately it's the boat orders which I don't like. I avoid boats mostly, even the puzzle boats. Now I'm forced to serve them. It's kinda strange for me. Due to this I find it very laborious to neglect nothing. Normally I have no problem to deal with several issues, but the event is a little bit "messing". I try to keep up because there are some things I desire. Later, when the event is over, there may be a time to reconsider what went good, and what went bad. Perhaps it's an opportunity to learn how you are dealing with a complete different situation than usual.

Yes that’s exactly it donkeyfan. We all have our own styles and maintain our own balance what works for us depending on our preferences and playing time and style. Nevertheless we manage our balance and every now and then something happens that forces you to rethink your strategy and style and find a new balance.
Sounds like I normally do a few more boats then you do. I also mostly ignore them however I do make an effort for puzzle boats and even then if I really don’t like them I’ll send them away empty. And now I’m doing as many boats as I can manage. I want the permits and puzzels and deco and chick vouchers…
Ah well when the event is over my vouchers will have increased quite a bit so that’s a good thing.
That being said I do like things like this which mix it up and makes me rethink my strategy and actually have to work for to figure out what works for me etc etc. instead of the same old routine I always do.

I agree with you both and it is not easy to balance everything. I am not doing much in the valley at present. It is all taking too much time. This is a busy time of year also which just adds to everything.

Today, I notice even rustic bouquets are selling fast. A lot of players buy everything in the RSS, all the items that might be needed to complete their boat crates besides the gift crates. That’s the reason why TEMs stay a bit longer in the RSS. Nobody needs them for crates. It’s a good and fast way for lower level players to upgrade their town. 😉

Which is also a bit of a shame because I do like the theme and decorations and special events and such and can’t fully enjoy it and redecorate etc.
