Why?
Just why?
Surely the idea of any game is to keep you playing as long as possible.
A broken truck ends that gaming session pretty damn decisively.
-You're trying to get to one last destination to fulfil one last requirement before heading off to bed ....BAM truck broken down
-You've got just this time slot right now 1st thing today to play so you head on in ....BAM truck broken down
-Your animals have escaped better catch them back ....BAM truck broken down
Why does it happen so often
Why can't we have more reliable trucks
Why can't we fix it our damn selves if we can fix others. Without paying diamonds.

BauldersGate It's a well-known issue, sadly... The only workaround I'm aware of would be to have a truck of a babyfarm nearby. But that requires HAVING a second farm, or a third. Not everyone has the time for that. I can tell you first-hand that this is working. Parking the truck from a babyfarm strategically nearby will solve the breakdown at once. I understand that ducktown2021 is very successful in this respect. Perhaps he can say something to this matter. However, this requires a second farm. I don't know whether you have one.

I do but after once trying out the valley with them I have no intention of doing it again 😅 too much hassle
Plus I don't generally stick in one area with my main farm so if soon be out of reach for the little ones 😆

Yes, that's a problem, too. To get to my main farm is sometimes laborious. I'm using the map from sunnyphoenix for this purpose. But before I start I have to gather some spins, because the truck from the baby is usually far away from the truck from my main main. Sometimes it also happened that the truck from my baby has a breakdown itself on the way to the truck from my main farm.

That is surely the definition of salt in the wound to have a breakdown on the way to help a breakdown 😅

I find all the break-downs very annoying and frustrating, and I don’t think they fit with the spirit of Hay Day—where nothing else breaks (or dies). And as you said, it defeats the purpose of a game to make people stop playing it for hours (without paying diamonds). The truck break-downs are my least favorite part of Hay Day.

I just had an idea and I’m wondering what other people think. Maybe SC could offer a truck upgrade that would make our truck reliable enough that it would never break down in the valley—and the upgrade wouldn’t cost diamonds or real money. It could cost in-game coins or vouchers, or they could create a new currency that you have to earn a certain amount of in order to upgrade the truck (the way they did with the special vouchers used to get birds).
Or maybe they could offer a booster that’s good for fixing a broken truck.
I still think the best solution is just to get rid of the broken trucks altogether, as donkeyfan suggested, but I suspect that’s not going to happen.

I think a booster is a great idea (assuming this "feature" won't be eliminated).
