I have a question for experienced players. I finally made it to Champions League a few weeks ago, and find playing there to be quite intense. For example, the first three players are already done with the derby by the time I wake up (I am on the US West coast)! Hence my question about the upcoming bunny derby: is there any hope to wait till Friday to catch the last bunny, or will everyone be done in the first day and I will likely be demoted if I wait?

I think there are 3 main options for bunny derby in Champions League (talking about 320 point tasks only). If you want to spend that 10 diamonds for an extra task there are even more options. And in hoods with more than 1 or 2 playing derby it's even more complicated. It all depends on your goals and playing style I guess. Do you want to stay in CL by all means? Do you aim for max horseshoes only? And so on... Experienced CL players aiming for top 3 would always prepare tasks (aka stacking) for derbies to finish as quick as possible ervery time, but that's another big topic.
Anyway, if you're playing "standard" bunny derby solo here are my options mentioned above
1. Ignore bunnies and head for top 3 CL asap (need to be prepared) 2. do 320 tasks only, catch bunnies when they appear and hope to stay in CL (just play as usual) 3. Be well prepared, start the derby on Friday after 3rd bunny arrived, rush through the tasks and get the best of both worlds, hopefully, which means CL top 3 and bunnies.
Btw, regarding 3.: with more than 1 hood mate in derby you'll need some luck with the next tasks showing up. Maybe you won't be top 3 CL or even get demoted worst case, but at least you got all the bunnies. As I said, depends on your goals
There's MUCH more to say about CL derbies, preparing, stacking, bunnies and so on

We usually try for the three bunnies and most (not all) of the time we also come top 3 with preparing for Friday’s bunny in advance.
Personally I’m not fussed if we don’t place in bunny derby because the third bunny prizes can make up for the placement rewards (esp if it has a permit in the bunny row). But if we do happen to place — which often does happen — then I look at it as a bonus.

Rose, are you a solo player? Strategy for doing the derby alone can be quite different, than if you are playing with even 1 or 2 other players.

Thank you for the replies. I should have added that yes, I am a solo player. My problem is, with global time zones, I am behind most people in the US and all of Asia and Europe, so normally, I don’t have a chance to place (I think). Last derby, life interfered, and I had to complete tasks on Wednesday and finished 8th. I have to spend diamonds on the extra task, otherwise I will be demoted (judging by my short experience in that league). I would like to stay in the league long enough to complete the derby achievement, but frankly, I am not enjoying the frantic pace of it

My strategy has been to stack the townies and one of the “basket” tasks, and then trash until I get mining, helping (I have enough trees on my baby farms), and cropping tasks. Stacking any more I feel would disrupt running my farm so much that enjoyment goes to zero. I start on Tuesday and only take 320 tasks Also, my original question was specifically for a bunny derby and if I could still hope to remain in the league if I wait till Friday (I don’t care about placing for now). Do most players in champions league ignore the bunny or wait till Friday, in your experience? Stacking for the Friday bunny is totally doable, but I am very behind other people in terms of time zones. Sorry for so much info.

Actually, you are matched as you draw your first task. That being said, there are a LOT of solo players, and if there is a line-up that is not yet complete it is possible to get put in one of these line-ups that has already started several minutes before you. This can and does occur in NHs of any size. Have you thought about starting the derby just before it ends with just enough time to pick up stacked production tasks, release townies etc.? This could go either way, but it seems that if you start early in the week, you will be more likely to be matched with other players that are not trying for the bunny rewards.

Interesting, I didn’t know everyone gets matched around their start time. A Friday start would probably mean everyone completing nine tasks in seconds and hoping for luck on the extra task😲. Stressful. I don’t think I can play like that because I can’t stack enough production tasks (not enough spots on machines, and not willing to deal with a full barn), and everything else, other than townies and mining, takes time…. And yes, you are right, what happened to me this week is I had to finish quickly, was done by Tuesday afternoon, and already in 6th. Almost everyone is done by now. Too bad about the bunny rewards, and a waste of a derby because of that, but at least I was done early and could go back to actually running my farm. I like the look of the achievement trophies, but might just drop out of the champions league after all since I feel it just ruins the game. A mystery derby will probably finish it off for me 😀
