Is it a bug, or is it just me?
I have Ernest hired. Earlier today he needed one cheese and one brown sugar, and was standing around with an exclamation point, like he needed something. He had milk and sugar cane, but just seemed to be stuck.
I used a couple of cheeses and brown sugar and harvested more of both, and he started up again.
This evening I come in, and he needs one cheese and one cream. Stuck again. Big red square with a white exclamation mark in it, not filling his quota.
I donβt use the farm helpers a lot, but have from time to time, and Iβve never seen this before. ?

Was his total storage limit reached before the cheese and sugar could be collected? Did he have enough milk to make cheese? I don't know why he would be idle. I don't use helpers often either. But usually the ! is because he needs more materials to make the product.

He had 78/80, so idk how he could pass his own storage limitοΌγγ
And yes, he had the materials needed.
If he needs more I can usually tap on him and a βthought bubbleβ shows up, telling you what he needs, right? Nothing happened until I used several things. I filled a boat request for 11 cream (aaack) and he got busy making some again. But itβs like he stops just short of the amount I set for him.

That's very strange. I've used him in the past and he would ask for more supplies like milk even though he had enough to continue. However he would still work until he had zero resources. Then he would go idle with the red box.
Just curious, you said he had enough resources. Cheese takes 3 milk each. Is it possible he only had 2? Also, was the dairy loaded with milk (either with his icon or not).
One last thing, I ask this question because I've done this by mistake...did you change the amount of items for him to make at any point? For instance say you had him set for 20 cream, but changed it to 15 to make more cheese, but he still had 20 cream in inventory? So he would only be set to make 15 cream but he already had 20, until you used them? Not sure if I'm making it clear.,but I've done that in the past.

One thing I've found out recently is that you can see more information if you tap on the helpers' house. That will open up an image of them both. They will usually show a green tick, which indicates all is well with them. If one has an exclamation mark, hold down on it, and an information box shows what the problem is. On one of my baby farms Rose had a !, and the info box said she wouldn't take any more of a particular crop as there was only 10 in the silo. I don't know if that number varies with farm level though. As soon as I harvested more the ! disappeared, and was replaced with a tick. I hope this helps.

Excellent info Cowslips! I never thought to check at their house area. I hope Snooks can figure it out with this info.

Love Rose and Ernest, especially Ernest when every week he comes for his wages. He receives his diamonds then he meanders thoughtfully back across the road, always carefully following the paths from the house to his own place on the farm by the machines. Rose bless her also comes for her wages (diamonds) but then has to rush off in all directions to start work immediately
Rose & Ernest will start to flag a shortage of crops once the amount of a specific crop in the silo that they need reaches below 20, once the stock level of that crop reaches 10 they will not use it to protect the farm from having no stock of that particular crop.
The red flag can also appear depending on the amount they currently hold in their total stock. For example if Ernest is able to hold a total stock level of say 90 and he has 90 items in stock, then he is asked to make changes to the stock for example increasing the white sugar to 15 instead of 12 and reducing brown sugar from 15 to 12.
As his barn is already full he canβt make more white sugar until his stock level is reduced to make way for the extra 3 white sugar. So three brown sugar need to be sold/used to bring the stock of that item down to 12
The stocks held can be checked by clicking on the helpers themselves or their house and clicking the currently in stock tab

I hadnβt changed itemsβIβm not that fancy and just keep a fairly even amount of each. I did press on him to check the stock, which is how I knew he needed one more of each. I set it to 12 cheese, for example, and it showed he had 11. Same with the sugar.

Well, canβt now, I used a bunch of things and heβs busy restocking. Right now it just shows me the same info as the one I get when I tap on him, showing the supplies I have set and how many are made. Iβll have to wait and see if he gets stuck again.

So, to update: after reading these suggestions, I went back to look again and scrolled through the list, checking every item.
There were indeed 12 syrups when I had set it for 10, (which I didnβt think was possible).
I wish there were some kind of notification when setting up the amounts, that it was already full, or something.
In any case, thanks for your help. βThe things you didnβt know you didnβt know.β
