Sometimes I make a post and once it’s posted I see some typos. When I edit the posting and save it again it shows in the bottom right corner of the posting that I adjusted the posting. Any reason why this is set-up this way? And is there a possibility to adjust this by an admin so you have longer to edit a posting?
I do understand that if somebody quotes you and you adjust is afterwards that the two postings are not in line with eachother.

I’m not sure what you mean?
Most forums I’ve seen, and Discord (those are the only two things I currently use) will show the time of edits.
I’ve never seen a time limit on editing posts outside of other platforms’ in-game rules (that don’t actually keep you from editing content)?

ducktown2021 I think I remember - but I don't know where I read this - that the time to correct a posting in this forum is very long. I don't know how long it is but in my opinion it's supposed to be in that way. Perhaps an admin can add something more precise regarding to this issue. MommySnooks 🐯 However, there are platforms specifically forums where the time to correct a posting is limited. I know for sure a forum in Germany - it's a big one - Chip-Forum - where you have only 10 (!) minutes time to do so. Otherwise you have to contact an admin or moderator. The reason for this procedere the way I see it is to prohibit the meaning from a posting in order not to falsify the following comments. If this happens - a correction later on - it can lead to a misunderstanding due to a corrected or deleted content. Greetings, donkeyfan

I have to correct myself because I just checked the time for correcting a posting in the Chip Forum. It's 15 minutes, not 10. They changed it for the benefit of the users from the Chip Forum because they complained that 10 minutes would be too short. Apologies for my mistake.

I am an admin, smod and mod on a different forum. We can set the timings that you can change your posting. After a certain period you can’t edit or delete anymore for reasons given by donkeyfan.
What I mean here is that when I post something, sometimes there are typos because English is not my native language. If I want to correct that after posting you already see a notification at the bottom right corner. It’s not a big thing, just wondering.
So maybe the technical admin (guess Frog On) can elaborate on this topic a bit more.

Hello, someone rang me? ducktown2021, could you please clarify if this is a feature request or just for information? Do you want to see member NOT able to edit post after X minutes ? Or do you just want to understand how the "editing after posting" feature works here?

No, I wonder if it’s possible that you have for instance the possibility to get 1 minute after the posting of your msg that you can adjust it (to correct typos) without the notification that you edited your posting. It’s not a big deal at all.

I think it is a little bit disturbing to get a correcting note even when you only correct a posting from typos. I understand that, I'm missing a correcting feature when I write a PM. I have sometimes problems with auto-correction. And when I see it, it's often too late because I had almost send it.

Oh, without showing the "Last edit..." mention if post was edited within a few minutes? I got it now.
Sounds great, unfortunately I don't see any options on Proboards to do that. Proboards provides the software and host for this forum, we are limited by what they offer and not offer.
The current Proboards v5 was developped in 2013. Right now they are running closed beta testing for v6 with perhaps a lot more useful feature. Release date is not known though.

So is my understanding correct that all admins here do have admin rights, but non has the technical admin rights and thus the technical admin is with proboards with regard to software and changes?

Yes, you understand it correctly. So even if we know how to do something technically, we don't have access to the source code nor database to make changes.
We can modify the aesthetic (colour, styling...) and functionalities (board structure, usergroup...) and some customisations if there is a way to do it provided by Proboards.

I just thought I’d chime in that most of my posts in most places/forums are edited. For typos! So I tend to assume that may often be the case for others. Not that I don’t goof up in other ways. But I almost always miss type things. (Corrected two before posting this, but, if past is prologue, I’ll see others as soon as I click “submit”!)

I guess my point is that I don’t really care if my posts say they have been edited - because they need to be edited.

I understand that, but when I look at a posting from somebody else I wonder what has changed. Especially if somebody already quoted you. On JHD forum not that big an issue, but on other fora I am on it might be (safety related).
