Wish me luck! I just submitted a design for Greg’s contest. I’ve never done anything like this — ever! Aside from the fact that I have no idea how to modify the “aspect ratio” or number of pixels in my photos, the process was surprisingly easy. Today is the last day to submit an entry, so get decorating! Apparently, we will all be able to vote even if we didn’t submit an entry. 👍🏽 The place is make.supercell.com and it uses your supercell id. Besides the required overall photo and a thumbnail, you can submit four photos of details. You can also submit a video. I would love to have been able to give everyone a trick-or-treat tour from the party field, through the orchard, across the road and along the path through the cemetery to the Halloween area. Maybe for the next contest. Scenic mode is surprisingly easy to use. I’m pleased. I had dug all my fall decor out of storage and dumped it in the party field weeks ago. I finally got all the gnomes to work with me today, and I’m thrilled. I was surprised at how inspired I got. Not just for the possibility of a bunch of diamonds, but to maybe be featured on Greg’s farm. I love looking at farms. Besides my regular visits to admire friends’ farms, I enjoy seeing spectacular, creative farms that have things for sale in the DD.   |

It worked! It didn’t matter that I just uploaded screenshots without reformatting them into some particular size. I didn’t even have to go through postimage. I saw my photos and previews of a bunch of other entries. As I said in my earlier post, you can still enter. General viewing and voting apparently starts in a couple of days.

I have to confess, I went past my own farm the first time without recognizing it. 😂 Not surprising since there are HUNDREDS of entries. In case anyone does see it, my “make” name is “DibleyGardener.” What I can’t figure out is how the voting actually works. I saw R3DKNIGHT’s entry which included his video. I watched it, and he says you can vote for all the farms you like, not just one. However, the little ❤️ button is greyed out on everything when I scroll through. At the bottom, it says you can view “finalists”, “nonfinalists”, and “all entries” (or something like that); but when I choose “all entries”, all million are “finalists” with “50+” votes. I found Ricky again, but not me. I wish there was some info on voting. Am I doing something wrong? Does it only let you enter the “vote now” space once with the ❤️s active? Aside from going cross-eyed after a while, I did enjoy looking at all the farms. I have a few favorites that repeatedly catch my eye. I am a big fan of mazes. I had one on my farm years ago near the river. The frogs in it were highly entertaining. I also noticed that quite a few farmers used Lavinia’s suggestion of creating their entry in edit mode. It looks very spooky to have the farmhouse be transparent. Very ghostly. It also solves the problem of not having the energy to rearrange your main farm. Apparently decor storage is accessible in edit mode without placing all the other stuff. All things considered, I don’t mind that you can’t search for a particular farm. I think that makes it more fair. So, just enjoy getting ideas and admiring all the work from farmers around the world. I only saw one item I’ve never seen before anywhere ever — a fountain shaped like a square pillar with water pouring out of a cat face on the side. Either it is a double pillar, or the farmer used two of them. I want it!!! I may go through again (my vision may never be the same) and try to take some screen shots of my favorites to share. Off topic our local theatre group is putting on ‘The Vicar Of Dibley’ in December. A group of us have booked tickets today, very much looking forward to it. |

I discovered that you have to tap on the thumbnail of the farm you are interested in and open the entry up to full size in order to get the vote button. I went back and voted for lots! I have a screenshot I took for donkeyfan, but photoimage is doing some kind of maintenance so I’ll share it later.🫏

There’s a notice in the “inbox” envelope in the top left corner of your screen that will take you to the fall design contest to vote. You scroll through bazillions of entries and can vote for as many as you choose. The thumbnails all say “finalist” even if you click to show “all entries”. In order to vote for an entry, you tap the thumbnail that intrigues you and it will show you all the photos that go with that entry. That’s where you can vote. Once you vote for a farm, the heart button stays purple, so you can’t just vote repeatedly for one farm. You can’t seek a particular farm. Have fun! …and here’s a screenshot of one of the entries that I saved for donkeyfan! 😊 It shows the little “vote” button.  |

Have seen a button "shared this creation" (or similar) as well, but need to get there first. Thanks, Frog! …and donkeyfan, you are most welcome. I’m glad to know the link worked. For those who haven’t visited the contest yet, here’s a screenshot of what the thumbnails look like on a tablet. When I revisit, I believe everything gets shuffled. All the farms I’ve already voted for show as a 💜 on the thumbnail. I love seeing what people do with the ordinary farm stuff: dead trees or trees with fall fruit to harvest, fallow fields or fields planted with crops for harvest. The new oats look especially good. As I revisit the contest, the same farms tend to jump out at me, which I find interesting. What is also interesting is that there are a couple of farms that I really liked but didn’t vote for because I saw them before I figured out how to vote; and I can’t find them again. I hope this is a success, and that the team holds more contests using the same format. From what I’ve seen, creating an entry doesn’t have to be a big production now that edit mode has been improved.  |

I got my vote in! I wonder how many entries there were. 🤔 I tried a rough count at one point but gave up somewhere around 700. I figure that there could be 1,000. Here’s an example of an entry that could have been made in edit mode just for the occasion without changing anything on the main active farm. I think the advantage to this type of entry is that it would fit nicely into a block of Greg’s farm. It also is effective as a thumbnail. I’ll probably try that next time.  |

No, I’m not technically a winner; but I certainly had fun and will do it again if there are future farm design contests. Thank you, everyone, for supporting me! The “finalist” thing was pretty funny. There were about a thousand (literally) finalists — every farm that entered. The Dibley critters were proud to be finalists. Now I just have to find where the winners are posted. I’ll check FB. I imagine there will be a notice in the in-game news soon. The team is really improving the in-game communication. EDIT: The winners can be seen by going to the original in-game notice for the farm design contest. If you tap the “vote now” button, it takes you to the winner and runners-up. Turns out I had actually given a vote to three of the runners-up! Now we just have to wait and see how the winning design is translated to Greg’s farm. |
