Hey all, so I’m new here but currently have my farm at lvl 49. I was doing some reading on here and noticed people have “baby farms”. Why do people have more than 1 farm? Can you connect two farms and then move decor items to the other? I am very large on decor and always tried to get as many as possible through events so i have accumulated a ton of them. I don’t want to loose my base farm by trying to add another one myself. Any info would be great! Another question is what the heck do expansion permits do? I just found I have 54 and have never once figured out what they are for.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I have multiple babyfarms. They help my main farm with producing products, storage in barn and once their town is fully developed have visitors for my personal train. They grow crops, bushes and trees that I can revive. So a lot of support functions to make live easier on your main.
No, you can’t swap decos between farms. You can be in the same neighborhood and swap several items via the trading option.
Permits you need to open land. For so plots you need mallets, stakes and I forgot the name of the 3rd kind. Some plots need besides those 3 items also permits. The more plots you open the higher the number of each you need.

I have just one baby farm, I use it as a service farm to provide my main farm with items such as sugar and milk and all the dairy items ..because my main farm on its own cannot produce enough of certain items. Sometimes crop items too if my main farm fields are planted up.
As you’re level 49 it’ll be a while before you feel the need for a baby farm.

I created my “baby farm” because I wanted to try farming differently, like not chopping down so many of the original trees or blowing up rocks and ponds. I wanted to try and leave buildings in the place when first acquired. I failed at that. 😂
Also, I do spend some real life money on my first farm, for the farm pass, diamonds and sometimes deco. On my baby farm, I have never, ever spent any real money.
Although many use the baby farm to support their main farm, I usually use my main farm to help my baby farm with things like truck orders, boat and town help.
The fun part is that you can do as you please. There are no rules as to how you use it. The farms do not even have to be in the same neighborhood.

I have been playing for many years and have not created a baby farm. Being in a large active neighborhood I have not seen the need as my neighbors provide the helps and other things some people use the baby farms for.

I spend so much time already with just one farm. Also, the thought of starting a new farm with so little barn storage.

My baby farm exists to supply town visitors. I very rarely use it for anything else.

dauntlessmoon01Welcome to JHD! 🙂 Since your questions are already answered I only want to let you know why I prefer to have babyfarms. After playing with my mainfarm for a half year I decided to create a second farm. I also tried to avoid some mistakes I made with my main farms. As Mom’sCar already mentioned such as chopping down original trees and blowing up stones and so on. I tried to integrate new machines in the existing area. Sometimes I had success, sometimes not bc I was lacking the needed place. After some time I built my 3rd farm, and meanwhile even a 4th farm. My mainfarm is lv 191, my biggest baby 106, my 3rd lv 75 and the smallest meanwhile lv 54. I don't play every farm regularly, it's eating too much time. I use the babyfarms mainly to provide my mainfarm with the basic products. If I am in the mood I feed my animals, if not, they are sleeping and having a beautiful dream. 😍 Especially my biggest baby is a great help since I bought nearly every machine available, same applies for fruit trees and possible crops. I won't miss my baby, and neither the last 2 babies. They've earned their right to exist. I know from some other players that they won't create a second or a third farm due to time troubles. They are satisfied with the one and only farm they have. It's a personal decision you have to make. Of course it can be enough to serve only one farm, this has also it's advantages. But having a second farm for help can really come in handy. Perhaps, if you consider it thoroughly give it a try. Do, what suits you most. You can proceed as you wish. That's a liberty which is really convenient. 🌻🌺

I have 7 baby farms! Like some others, I don't farm them on a daily basis, but do use them as a source of crops and items for my main farm.
One reason is that I've always been an experimenter. Having farms at different levels means that I can test new introductions and try out strategies. I will often share results on this forum.
Recently I've been using my biggest baby as a source of fish. I generally don't like fishing, so I drop nets on my big baby (which has all fishing spots open). I them leave the nets down until I need fish on my main farm, when I lift as many nets as I need, and drop new nets straight away.

Nice read... I too, like Mom'sCar, started a baby farm to keep the lush nature. Not too successful. New goal is to leave the evergreen trees unless, again they get in my way...haha After learning from the group here, I will expand my fish area. Good idea 💡 Plant trees to water. Turning into more of a backup farm Maybe a 3rd farm will start to just look cute😊 Question ~ baby farms, do you take in other farmers? (Friends bar)

(Friends bar) No, once you do that you know that your RSS will be robbed at one time. Some are in my main farm hood, some are without any friends and followers besides my main. They don’t do events, trucks, boars etc etc.

I haven’t succumbed to a baby farm. I’m terrified that if I do, I’ll will get attached to it beyond my original plan: no diamonds spent, just supplies for main farm and NH friends. The only thing that would be easy is keeping it natural.
In my NH, one of our members has a baby farm that has no friends outside our neighborhood. That means that she can flag trees and bushed and leave them for neighbors to use for derby help tasks. Everyone knows to leave those alone. Because that baby farm has no other friends, dozens of trees/bushes can remain flagged for days with no danger of their being snagged by a general game friend or “last helper”.

That is what I was thinking. Good idea. Appreciate all of you ♡
Good point! Be careful of being a last helper 👍 That is another good point ✔️ Not playing will help. I do have a problem with my main farm...I was letting everyone in... Now to protect it 🤔

Unrelated to this topic (but it IS a question!) .. pls can someone point me to the thread about bunny derbies? The one with lots of interesting stuff about when the three bunnies arrive? I have looked but can’t find it.
Thanks in advance 😺

While I can see the advantages of having more than one farm, I don’t have multiple devices I want to use, and don’t have time to play on more than one. You do not need a separate device for each baby farm. Switching from one farm to the other on the same device is easy and quick.

Yes, but you can only have one game per device, then you can use SC ID to put them all on one and play them. Unless SC changed their ToS, and/or it’s different from Clash? (And I don’t use SCID.) And I still don’t have time to mess with more than one farm, lol.
