IMO, bunny derby is designed to entice you to make a decision to either finish out fast and place, or commit at least 72 hours to get all 3 bunnies and possibly not place in top 3.
It depends on the group you are with. Most neighborhoods will play with the bunny and it won’t be until the final bunny is available until everyone makes a mad dash to task out. I have other times when neighborhoods don’t care and the top 3 are already taken within a few hours.
We always make a goal to place, but with a bunny derby, sometimes it’s ok not to. I enjoy the rewards with winning or losing.
The quicker you finish derby though, the faster you can stack up and prepare for the next one. Guess it’s all how your neighborhood operates.

There was a time - long ago - when I avoided every derby tied with a bunny. The sqeeking during playing caused me regularly to turn off the sound. It was going on my nerves. 😵💫
Later, I tried to accept the bunnies and to deal with their appearance in order to catch them and to get nice rewards. I did this several times but was mostly disappointed. Due to this I skipped it completely. So there are very few derbies for me. To be precise...it's currently only one, the normal derby without bunnies. So far it's the right decision for me and my sister-in-law and we are fine with it.

It isn't much different to a normal derby. You only have to catch the tasks at the right time. It isn't more work, but you have a better chance to get permits (or other good prizes). Yes, there are times the bunnies only disappoints you. But because of this I changed my mindset on that. I don't expect anything from the bunnies. So it can't annoy me. Expect nothing! And so I am much happier if there are good prizes for the bunnies. But if you don't want to catch bunnies you can play it as a normal derby, too. You don't have to skip it. Same you can do with bingo derby. Ignore the special and play it as a normal derby.
